I sent an mp3 to my phone by just changing the extension from .mp3 to .mid and attaching it to an email to my number @vzwpix.com

but on this phone, unlike other LGs, it allows you to save sounds, but then they cannot be set as ringtones. how do I save the sound as something i can use (ringtone, alerts, etc)? thanks!

You can't. If you want to use a sound for a ringtone, you need to use a program called Bitpim and get either a data cable or a Bluetooth USB adapter to connect your phone to your PC.

Every LG after the 8100 has this same feature. My Sounds cannot be used as ringtones unless you use BITPIM or some other "workaround" to circumvent VZWs blocking of this feature.
