I am loving this phone so far, the battery life is getting better and the features, reception and sound quality are simply brilliant.

However it's not all rosy in the garden of this customer:

LG Executives and Engineers Please correct the following in your next software upgrade:

1:
Problem:
The new screen is truly beautiful to look at, but it has a major software flaw, the fonts are not resize-able. Imagine if you bought a PC screen and could only look at all the text at font size 6? This is truly ridiculous and needs to be addressed immediately. My crappy and old Moto T720 offered a zoom feature, why not LG? How can a company that makes a product for people in all parts of the world, assume that everyone has 20...

As for the ring tones and wallpapers im willing to bet that its verizon that chose what goes on it not LG. since verizon designed the software interface and everything for their phones thats why all the phones have the same crap on it.

Then how come Moto offers you so much more as far as tones and wallpapers?

If you notice the motos have a Different user interface but verizon is slowly making every company use their own like the one on the LGS the new samsungs coming out i think are going to have the same interface. so i think when all the phones get the standard UI they will have all the same stuff. again i could be wrong im just trying to make an educated guess.

I agree. Verizon wants customers to BUY additional ringtones & wallpaper. So it's not LG but Verizon who is the culprit!!

I would say vzw doesn't help with the new user interface and adding graphics and ringtones. It goes to how much money do they want to make on get it now. If they load every phone with 100 ringers and pictures then no one will want d/l any.

The way I look at it with a camera phone is who actually uses the wallpapers loaded on the phone. If you dont like them take a picture of something you do like and set that as a wallpaper.

But the new samsung 850 has about 30 different ringers (that most samsungs come with)than what the lg has. They also have the same wallpapers but the samsung has about 3 more of them that are just as plain. Both use the exact same vzw interface. So VZW definatly tells the manufactures what to put on the phones...

I can't say much about the ringers because I download all mine from GIN. But as far as wallpapers, I just put whatever "wallpaper" I want on my memory card and use that. I really doubt that even if they offered me 35 "not so childish" wallpapers that I would even use them. And even if you dont have the sd card...all you have to do is send them to yourself. I am a HUGE Buckeyes fan so I doubt that they would offer those in their "default" options. I have about 10 really great OSU pictures that I rotate everyonce and a while. They look great on the phone.

*Disclaimer*

I have the 8100, I am pretty sure the 9800 would be the same, but I can not guarentee that.

I take back my comment on the wallpapers. I think you guys are correct on that. I just started using my own images for wallpaper. Just shoot something you like and use it. Simple.

Although this works flawlessly on the main screen, the external screen is a different matter. I shot an image in all the different resolution settings, but none was displayed for the entire size of the external screen. That sort of sucks, so for external I am using an stock sunset image, but for the internal using my own image.

The ring tone issue still needs to be addressed.

How do you send the images to yourself so they can be used as wallpaper?

no need to send to self, just shoot, then go to wallpaper, select from MY PIX and you are done...

Yes I understand that, but she mentioned about sending it to yourself. If I could do that... and send pics I have on my computer or graphics on my computer... then I could get some pics on that I can't just take. So once again... how would you go about sending it to yourself?

You can put them on your memory card in the my_pix folder, put the card back into the phone, open up my_pix, then move it to the phone's memory. You can then set it for wallpaper, picture ID, etc. You may want to also lock it too, so you don't accidentally erase it.

I tried the phone again today and there is a way to increase the size of the font.

(Also, there is a separate setting for the dialing digits when placing phone calls. It has "normal" and "large" just like most other phones.)

But the text font can be changed independently... I did it!! I admit, it isn't a super size, but it is bigger by perhaps 25 to 40%.

When in TXT MSG mode, look for "Options" then "Format Text"!

Enjoy!!

Hi, I read your note, as mentioned before the dial out numbers can change of course in the normal/large settings, but UI fonts can't. The time and date and name of callers on the external LCD panel is very difficult to read. LG/VZW need to offer UI font changes, not just for dial out numbers or for Text. Also as mentioned before in Mobile Web 2, the e-mails read too fine. S

I learned today that 9800's voice alert calls out the name or the number of the caller. So I don't even need a fancy ring tone, I rather hear it call out a name (if in address book) or the number. The option is for voice alert followed by ring tone, or voice alert alone. I have opted for latter for now...

PS: It's coming together gradually now. Now if we could just increase UI fonts and have a larger cache for web browsing.
