I saw in a previous thread that the phone has to be open to use speakerphone is that true, that sticks if you have to open this monster to talk on it.

it is not a monster, have you seen one up close? it is as small as moto E815. on most if not all flip phones you have to open up to use speaker and same is true with the mighty 9800...

😁 Hate to break it to ya, but most of the news phones you can use the speakerphone function while the phone is closed.

E815 works when phone is closed
KX1 is works when phone is closed
8100 works when phone is closed
VX 4650 works when phone is closed

i can keep going but i am pretty sure LG would consider keeping the same true with this nice of a phone. the speaker phone should work while in candy bar style.

Every others phone there works with the flip assembly closed.

Sorry to inform you other wise - - im not full of BS.

well when he uses to 8100 closed he is not making a call, that's for sure, and Iam almost positive the 9800 you have to open to use spear because the surrond speakers are inside. don't hold me to that but other poeple on the forum have said that.

I can say, with the 8100, you can use speaker with the phone closed, but it's not as simple as it sounds. You have to use a plug in headset, start the speaker, close the phone, unplug the headset and it will continue to work with the phone closed. That is the only way that I am aware of.

you are correct mary i experienced that when I was playing around with it trying to get the mp3's in my car. But come on who's going to do that and you probably can't talk to the person.
That would be the best if you could talk with it closed, like the nextel's. I love my 8100 boo 9800.

The 815 works with the flip closed-- the only time you have to open the phone is when you want to initally activate the function. After that then there is no need to open the phone, just hit the side key.

Closing the lid transfers the call to the "handset".

Mine doesn't work when closed, if I close it, the call is disconnected. How can I get it to work? (Besides plugging in a headset, I read it works that way).
