Are you SURE it was the 6230i? Can you confirm it has the megapixel camera as opposed to 640 x 480 pixels in the 6230?

I think the rep you spoke with may be confused. I HIGHLY doubt cingular would sell a brand new mega-pixel phone for $79.95. I think he might have ordered you one of the new 3220's.

I think you're confused, he stated that the 6230b was 79.95. The 6230i was more.

The rep who told you that was seriously misinformed. we just got the 6230 with that item number and much to our dismay it was the old 6230 not the 6230i.

The 3220 is the phone runnin for $79.99. My store just got in the supposed new 6230i and its the same as the older 6230 but ENS capable, which has to do with ota programming. The part numbers for the 6230 and 6230i are different but all cingular did was send the phones back to Nokia and had em Flash the phones with a newer system on it! Sorry bro! Its possible cingular may carry the newer 6230i, but i gighly doubt it. And even if they did, it would be A LOT more than $139.99!

What you ordered wasn't the 6230i, but the 6230 with ENS. Basically the same phone as the "old" 6230 but with enhanced network selection.

The 6230i has PTT. Since Cingular does not have PTT, your telesale rep told you incorrect information. Sorry. Look for the 6230i around late summer early fall.

All,

I repeat an earlier post: It's not coming for Cingular. Not now, not ever. Its not coming to the US. There will not be an 850 version produced. I have this directly from the manufacturer. Anyone telling you different is trying to sell you something or just jerking your chain.

Well, someone should ask it...
How are you connected to the manufacturer?

Yeah but that's the Eurasian version, the one with 900 instead of 850.

Take note that the 6230i on the mobilebee website is described as a *900* 1800 1900 frequency phone, which is not the optimum for use on USA and Canadian networks.

Although Nokia world site shows a 850 1800 1900 phone to be available (for use in North America), unconfirmed rumor is that it will not be produced.

Did you order from them? I found there offer and wanted to order, but I am skeptical of NYC companies. I've been burned in the past by electronic retailers and wireless e-tailers from the NYC area.

As far as the discussion over the frequency being 900 MHz as opposed to 850 MHz...I have been using a 7250i for the past two years with my T-Mobile account and have not had any issues. I have travelled up and down the East Coast, West Coast, Toronto, and Vancouver without any issues.

Please let me know if you did purchase from Mobilebee.com and whether you would recommend them. Thanks in advance!

I spoke to someone at Nokia USA, and he stated that they have no idea if/when the phone will be released in the USA.
He also comfirmed something I read elsewhere that on the Nokiausa site, there is a 'expected soon' section for new phones to be released, the 6230i is NOT on that site.
Any phone on that page will typically be available in 3-5 months. The page is updated as new phones are scheduled. So the phone is not going to be available for atleast serveral months, if ever.
Per the Nokia rep.
