I'm getting soooo tired of waiting for this phone. Does anybody know the date of its release? Let us know as soon as you find out.

I just saw the newest Cingular Handset roadmap through June, and the 6230i in NOT on it. They display the 6230 as continuing through June.

I am waiting for the release date for Cingular as well. I have until the end of the month to switch to this phone, or I am hoping that the price of the 6230 drops so I can get the difference. Anyone know anything?

Last time I checked, Cingular should be coming out with PTT around July, so this phone and others showing to have PTT and GSM 850 will probably come out around that time, or within three months as is the norm with cingular. Then again, I could be completely wrong, as the Z500 shows to have PTT and yet it doesn't. We shall see.... 🙄

Just spoke to a Cingular Rep about ordering a 6230. He said that its been discontinued because the 6230i should be out in 2 weeks.

Told him I have read it wont be out until July - he says - according to what he has heard it should be within 2 weeks - definitely within April.

Now that does go against what a lot of people in this forum have said - but I am going to hold off until APril end I guess to order a phone.

I think I will too. I must say, this phone seems to have everything you could possibly ask of a mobile phone. I did have a V600 and loved it until I dropped it in a glass of milk. I've got a V551 now, which hasn't let me down, but is completely underwhelming. I really hope this comes out with cingular this month.

The 6230 is no longer listed on Cingular's website for my zip code (47401). It was yesterday. Maybe the 6230i is on the way...

It actully should be out before the first of May, or at least that's what I was told at a Cingular store. I was also told the price would be the same as the 6230.

I do not know for certain that Nokia will make the 6230i available in the US, however, Nokia's own Device Details website shows the 6230i will be available also in the 850/1800/1900 configuration.

That is a positive indication for a US release, but then again Nokia can always change their intention.

If Nokia does not release a US 6230i, I will probably opt for the V635.

I work for cingular and while I haven't heard anything about the 6230i (which I am also waiting to buy) there is an interesting note on our new price sheet. It looks like the sku on the 6230 is changing on May 2. This could possibly mean it will then be the 6230i, the same thing happened when samsung went from the x427 to the x427m. The price has basically stayed the same. Hopefully this is good news, my fingers are crossed.

Billed $159.79

$40 rebate coming. That is for a 1 year.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade here (I'm as excited about this phone as anyone else) but I received firsthand information last week that the 6230i will NOT be released in an 850 variant at all!!! I hope I'm wrong, or more accurately, I hope the information I received was incorrect.

Went to the store again yesterday and spoke to the manager. She told me that the phone is already in field tests in my area, and if all goes well (as it should) the phone will be in the store within 2 weeks.

I believe I've seen this phone in LA,CA. It is black and grey but the some of the keys are different. There are arabic-like markings above the some the numbers. I think the store owner ordered them from overseas. Will they work here? 😕

I still have hope the Nokia 6230i eventually will be released in the US for the following reasons:

A. Nokia submitted it for (US) FCC approval.

B. Nokia's European website shows it will be available in 850/1800/1900 as well as 900/1800/1900 frequencies.

If they do not introduce it in the US in the near future, I'll be looking at a new Motorola release.

The older 6230 has been discontinued and have already been placed on backorder. The 6230i has a projected in store date of May 20th, so figure we should hope to see them by the end of this month.
