I had owned the best that Sanyo has to offer, and It would be hard to buy this phone because of the lack of features.

Oh if it had the Samsung name on it you'd be all over it "it's really great to have an affordable entry level phone"

Samsung doesn't manufacture complete crap like this. If you've ever held and seen this phone (I have), you will soon discover that it is a total fluke it terms of build quality. Cheap plastics all around, with a REALLY cheap battery door. Furhtermore, Samsung would NEVER put a tiny CSTN garbage display like Sanyo put on this thing. The Nokia 6016i kicks this POS out of the ball park easily.

Sorry, but this device is total garbage.

Sorry, but tuolumne, I thought you played with a dummy model? You wouldn't judge this phone based off a dummy model, would you?

Last I checked, Samsung didn't offer a voice-only handset nowadays.

There is only one thing that is total crap around here. TuTu Funny you say you have played with a dummy model of this phone but you never mentioned that before threads were barely started about it.

I think you are bluffing.

Well...I hate to "swim against the current" (even tho I'm good at it!) but, this phone looks great! Althgough, this phone isn't for me, because I like to own "high-end" models, a lot of people complain about not having a "good" entry level phone to purchase. I consider Sanyo cell phones to be one of the best in the industry, if not "the best". If I were a customer who wasn't interested in cells with features like digital cameras, camcorders, Mp3 players/ringers, etc...I'd still want to purchase a solid and dependable phone. I think it was a smart move on Sanyo's part to deliver this to those who just simply want a cell phone with few extras! 😎

My thoughts exactly, a Decent flip phone at a decent price.

I use the Mid level phones personaly so I may not buy one, however I think it is great competition for the Samsung A660 and the LG(latest garbage) 125

Now the people who are not ballen' will get to have a good phone too

this phone i think is an amazeing phone.

first point, it is an entry level phone. ie for people who only want to make calls.

second peoint. it is a sanyo. sanyo has established it self as the industries best manufacturer hands down. no other manufacturer has the same high level of cosistant quality as sanyo others make some great models bot they also make some crap.

third point take all od the fancy features off of the 8200 and you litterally have the 200 why do you think it is called the 200?

for grandma or grandpa that want a good quality phone that just makes calls and will last forever. this phone is exactly what they want.

exactly, this phone is directed to older people who need a VERY simple phone, but don't want the 4920 (which is built better) or to those buying their children a phone that they can keep in contact with their parents with, but don't want to spend any money on features like vision or the phone itself. Or somebody who isn't willing to spend the extra couple bucks and get the 8200 (which may drop in price in the next few weeks) or the samsung 740 or lg 325, or find an 8100 lying around somewhere.

Overall impressions of this phone: it feels very cheap and weak, as if one small drop onto a kitchen counter would shatter the phone. the tiny screen may be too small for elderly eyes to read, but I haven't heard any complaints just yet. The option...

I would have to agree with Naytess. I recently bought one of these, and was looking to replace a Samsung A460. My wife and I also have a Sanyo RL-7300. All I need is a phone with a speaker.

Pros: EXCELLENT reception. My desk is a Sprint dead spot with the (former) Samsung A460 AND a Sanyo RL-7300. I can actually talk (if I don't move my head) using the SCP-200

Battery life so far has been very good, going on 3 days without charging up yet.

Sound quality is OK, the Samsung was better.

Feels more rugged than the Samsung a460 was. nOt as rugged as the RL-7300

I would recommend this for those that want a basic phone that has good signal strength. If you want games or other features, look for another model.

Good basic phone.
