Problem w/ K750 (W800) and Cingular

K750 (and W800) support GSM 900, 1800 and 1900 (not 850). This is an issue if your carrier only provides a GSM 850 network.

I purchased an unlocked K750 June 2005, switched my sim card from my S710 from Cingular and have loved the K750 until about two weeks ago. After about 5 months of use, my K750 stopped receiving a signal. I spent about a week going back and forth with Cingular’s technical support.

The result is not good for me. Cingular sold AllTel a portion of the AT&T GSM 1900 network towers. Then on Nov 6, 2005, Cingular removed the majority of their remaining GSM 1900 network in Oklahoma City were I live. I verified this with several Cingular technical representatives.
