TMobile uses the 900 Mhz frequency band which this phone is. Cingular is still on the 850 Mhz. band. Probably won't take much to make it work though.

Cingular would have to make it (program it), to work on the 850 mhz frequency that Cingular uses!
Cingular uses 850 Mhz phones.
TMobile uses 900 Mhz.

Wrong. T-Mobile USA uses the 1900MHz band, not 900MHz. Overseas they use 900MHz.

I have this phone, it works on Cingular. Using a phone Cingular doesn't sell however causes problems when it comes to purchasing & downloading anything, especially games & wallpapers. Cingular doesn't not recognize this phone, so if you try to purchase & download a game or wallpaper it will say so & you've wasted your money & will have to call to get a credit for the purchase. As for ringtones, they're fine, it's an MP3 and it's a universal file amoung all MP3 compatible phonse. It is 100% possible to setup the WAP browser for Cingular. Best suggestion is to get a straight usb data cable (one without a box along the wire) w/official Samsung CD w/the PIM & File Manager software on it. Your computer is your friend, make your own music & wallpa...

Wrong. T-Mobile USA uses the 1900MHz band, not 900MHz. T-Mobile UK, and other parts of Europe and Asia uses 900MHz.

Got the E730 2 weeks ago, works in those three cities (Atlanta, Washington DC, and San Antonio) so far on Cingular. Occasionally the network is listed as "Cingular Extend", (meaning it is using the T-Mobile network perhaps?)

No, when you see Cingular extend, that means that you are using an old AT&T tower that Cingular renamed as their own tower once the Cingular/AT&T merger was complete. Since the E730 doesn't have the 850MHz band, that means you are using a former 1900MHz AT&T wireless(currently now renamed and called the Cingular tower).

It will be compatible with Cingular, but you won't have the best of their coverage, since most of their network is 850Mhz which this phone doesn't have. And, you will have to know which location Cingular use the 1900Mhz band so the phone will work with decent coverage. You should ask Cingular if the locations that you travel to, are 850MHz or 1900MHz, or even both, since they merged with AT&T wireless.
