Well, it is rather simple to do it, I just hacked mine so if there is a better method to do this then someone please post it.

First thing it seems to only allow ringtones to be on the phone and not on the transcard, so you need to use an editing program like audacity to make the MP3 smaller to just what you need. After that, save it to your trans card and then move it from the transcard to your phone and then use it as a ringtone.

Here's a simpler method...If you have NERO wave editor...Open it up and load your MP3 into it...Once in there, you can chop up what you want and resave it as a MP3 file. HOPE this help.. ๐Ÿ˜‰

(i'm sorry using this thread for this)i'm having a problem,i downloaded a program to edit audio, and i cutted what i didn't want from that specific audio(to use as a ringtone)and when i transfer it to the phone,it reads it,but when i save it,he says it saved but then gives an error:"file is damaged",and it erases it automatically :S,is it protecting the audio or it's just an error due to the program i'm using?thanks in advance

did you save it as a variable bit rate (VBR)?

If so you shouldn't do that. Personally I never set my bit rate over 128.

How do you move the mp3 from the transcard to the phones memory though? ;)

I just put one of my Mp3 songs as a Ringtone....easy, 1 try

go to sounds
click meny and choose switch storage device and choose your memory card

once there, choose the song click meny and either choose move or copy to phone

after that switch back to phone memory, you will find the song as soon as you switch you will see your song in the list of ringtones then choose it as your ringtone....never pay for another ringtone again!!!!

BAMM!!!!!

go into sounds then highlight your ringtone -> press menu -> move -> phone

Now if you don't see it you are probably not viewing the contents of your flash card. go into sounds -> menu -> switch storage device -> select your memory card then you can view the files on the trans card.

You should be able to easily.

If you're looking for the easy way, take a nice, crisp $20 and $5 and head over to Motorola.com and pick up their Phone Tools, has a ringtone editor, and an explorer for the phone.

You don't have to be leet to use MP3s. I love the software anyways because that let's me use GPRS for internet through the laptop as well. Get ahold of your APN, Password, Username, and presto, you're a walking Internet connection.
