How to show ringer profile status on external display?

My external display (T-Mo branded) shows signal strength and battery on the top. In between is a large blank space, but the pic on Phonescoop shows data mode and ringer profile status also. Is this possible or is the Phonescoop picture a mistake? I would like to be able to see which ringer profile I've selected without pressing the volume key to change it.

On mine, the volume key just shows what ringer you have, the smart key actually changes it.

Sorry - I didn't clarify. I meant as a work around I could just press the volume key to check the profile and then press it again to exit.

I was just curious if the ringer icon on the external display is just locked out by T-Mobile or if it doesn't exist at all.
