Will this phone work on Cingular?
If so, why aren't they offering it?

It will work because they use the same spectrum. The problem is that it has to be unlocked. My dealer said, actually, that it is easier to get the unlocked version then the one from t-mobile.
The reason why Cingular is not offering it is because Moto probably has an exclusive contract with T-Mobile.

PS. If you want it on cingular don't go to the T-Mobile store to buy w/o contract, or Cingular store to hook it up. Go to a third party retailer that deals both T-Mobile and Cingular. They'll do everything for you there and for much cheaper.

Great PS Matt.
I'm going to switch from Cingular to T-Mobile around April or May and I like Cingular's phone selection better than T-M's. I'll do what you suggested for sure.

Um.... I would say go to a dealer that sells both T-Mobile and Cingular, they will know if it's possible to configure the phone to fully function on the Cingular network.
It might be the case that you can't, but most likely they would know a way around it.

Good Luck!!!

PS. Let us know if you get it to work, I'm getting it on Cingular next week and would like to know if these features will work.

I have the PEBL (since end of December) and it works with my Cingular account.

As noted already, the broswer and email stuff don't function with the Cingular network. I bought mine on ebay and haven't taken it to a dealer to see if there is something they could do with the configuration to make it work.

I was thinking of changing over to T-Mobile in a month. I figured they could make it work.

Also, I was disaapointed to find that it wouldn't sync with my Mac via iSync. iSync recognizes the phone for what it is but says it not supported.

Other than the above, a great phone.
