Mac Syncing

So, I've kept my PC for increasingly smaller reasons, and now, one of the main reasons left is the Nokia PC suite, which won't work on my iBook at all. However, my iBook does not have Bluetooth, so I've been unable to test out getting files back & forth that way. I'll soon be getting a new iMac (which does have Bluetooth), but I'm curious about getting files back & forth.

I take a lot of pics with the phone, so I want to know if there's a way to get image capture or iPhoto to recognize the phone (they won't on my iBook via usb). I also use the phone as my primary music player, so I'd like to know if there's a way to send music files that way.

I LOVE this phone, and would hate to be unable to use it because there's no Nokia PC suite ...

hehehe, you can alway try BootCamp on your new iMac and use the dual boot feature to load windows to operate your phone!

I use mine with my PowerBook with bluetooth. It's been almost a year now. I've never tried USB but have successfully done all the things you've asked about. Well... iPhoto won't recognize the phone as a camera. I use the RSMMC with a card reader and drag and drop the pics from the card into iPhoto. You can also drag MP3s over as well. What's great with the Mac is the ease of transfering over your contacts and calendars. What I love about this phone is seeing my calendar on the screen, as well as checking my email. I also download apps for the phone from the internet, then fly them over to the phone with the bluetooth.

It says on the Nokia website that this phone uses bluetooth 1.1.
I have a mac mini w/o the bluetooth and am dying to get a bluetooth adapter.
However, i cant find any decent looking ones that run on BT 1.1.

Can i get a 2.0 or is that a big no-no. I imagine the newer macs, i.e. powerbooks, have BT 2.0..

I just got the one they carry at the Apple Store: the D-Link....Works Great!

I'm pretty sure that BT 2.0 is backwards compatible with 1.1.

hey, don't even worry about Nokia PC Sync... you don't need it with a mac

The 6682 will sync perfectly with iSync via bluetooth. You can do file transfers via bluetooth as well. Its very fast and does an exceptional job. I think it's actually easier than Nokia's software

Good luck

Maybe I'm the only person with this problem, but I am finding it impossible to isync my 6682 with the my Mac. I have a powerbookG4 which has always had a seamless bluetooth connection with all of my other devices (including the 6682); However, when it comes to my mac scanning for my phone to add it as a device to sync with, The software will not detect the phone.

I understand that isync 1.5 will not recognize and sync with every nokia phone, but according to the masses, there really should not be a problem. Is there any additional tweaking I need to do with either the mac or the phone to get them to sync? I'm open to suggestions anyone may have.

Thanks

I have a mac with Bluetooth on it, but I find its better to use my SD/MMC card reader. Its faster, and it does't eat up my phones battery. You can get one just about anywhere for $20 or less. That will let you get your photos and music onto/off of your phone.

I use iSync on my phone, but having used PC Suite, its just not the same. I love and adore my mac, and my noika phone, but the two done get a long very well. If you are use to PC Suite, and would like to keep using it, I highly recomend using BootCamp and loading WIndows on your new iMac. It's handy to have for some things such as this.

And to whoever got the Dlink BT adapter, it will die in a few months, they are complete junk. Hope you have good luck with yours. Go t...
