😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁 Yes!!! 2 weeks ago I put in a request to get this phone unlocked because I will be going to Europe this summer and I told them that I would need my phone unlocked. They put in the request for me and then 5 minutes later they sent an email back to me saying that they didn't have an unlock code for me yet. Then today I got it!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!

Your post inspired me to call Cingular and request the unlock code. They filled in the form and told me I would get a key in 5 days! It that turns out to be true, this is an awesome post cellularnovice!

What is the unlock code they gave you?? I am in the process of requesting it, but your code may save 2 weeks if others can use it! Help us needy folk out! Karma will come around and be good to you!

Hmmmm,

I requested mine, but they needed my serial number. I'd think that each serial number would have its own code.

But I could be wrong.

It's supposed to arrive within 3 business days. They told you 2 weeks?

Well... they told me 3 business days... so I called after 4. They told me that there is no unlock code for the Nokia 6682 at this time, but that my request has been noted.

Anyone have any ideas what I should do now?

I got my unlock code. It is specific to the phone linked to your IMEI. The code came via email, follow the instructions there.

As far as phone function you won't see any change. If you switch out your SIM card you can use your phone with another carrier.

You can let a friend use your phone with their carrier.

Being selfish can be GOOD in some cases.....

With respect to posting unlock codes, these codes are specific to blocks of IMEI's.....

If you get the Wrong Code, enter it more than 5 times "unsuccessfully" (phone isn't unlocked)....it will LOCK your phone, and the only way to unlock it, is with software & a cable......

Be careful......everything isn't quite as simple as it would appear......

vpu2....OUT!!!!

That is correct - the unlock code will be specific to an individual IMEI, or at the very most, a small group of IMEIs. There's a lot of good info (& possibly your correct unlock code) here:

http://unlock.nokiafree.org/ »

It's worked for me on 3 different Nokias so far, though I did try my 6682 & got a code failure. I'm guessing I need to DL the program, but I haven't gotten around to that yet.

Any Cingular guys here? Can you guys help? Here is what I got from Cingular CS:

"....Thank you for taking the time to e-mail Cingular Wireless regarding your subsidy unlock code. Unfortunately, Nokia has notified us that they are not making subsidy unlock codes available for the 6682 at this time. We
do not currently have a timetable as to when these codes will be made available...."

Weird - I can only guess that there are certain blocks of IMEIs that cannot be unlocked. You may be unable to do it through Cingular. Maybe try here:

is the only thing I can think of.

One of these days, I'll work up the guts to try to unlock my 6682 that way. . . 🤭

Woohoo!!! I requested the code early last week after reading this post and got an unlock code in just a coulple of days!! Now this awesome phone is that much better.
It still doesn't explain why Cingular refused to provide it just a month ago and gave some bogus excuse aboout it damaging the firmware.
Whatever, it is all good now.
I guess each code is specific to each phone, but I have no problem giving it out.
cheers,

Here is what they sent me (minus my IMEI #), if you use it you will use one of your "tries" for unlocking your phone. There was no obvious orRlaTion between my IMEI # and the code below.
Have fun! 😁

Here is the process for entering in the unlock code for your phone: IMEI: your 15 digit # here

Before starting the process we have to give you warning. You have 5 tries, for the life of the phone, to enter this code. If you go beyond the 5 tries your phone will be permanently locked to Cingular network.

If you get code error twice I do suggest you call us before going any further. From within the US 1-800-331-0500 outside the US call 1-916-843-4685.

1. Press the # key once

2. Press the * three times ...

Thank icefall for posting this

Has anyone tried inputting this code on their phone yet?

I am asking because I read some place that these things come in batches. But I am not sure. Maybe there is one code per IMEI.

If anyone has tried it successfully, please tell us so we can too.

They said I couldn't get a code, and here is what I had written them back:

"...Ok, Cingular,

You got a simple choice here - you either provide me with a code for a phone that I purchased in a Cingular store, or I take my and my wife's phone to T-mobile or Verizon in September when my contact is up.

YOU CAN ULOCK THIS PHONE, because you did it already to other people. This is your true test of being a good GSM provider.

If you're thinking I have no choice, here is my choice: My next phone, if you fail my request, will be a T-mobile or Verizon phone. For my international travel I will use an unlocked MPx220 (that I own) for local GSM pre-paid SIM Card service anyway so Vreizon is a sure bet here.

You have time till september. I...

As I understand it.... they get unlock codes sent to them in a database from Nokia.... Nokia updates the database periodically. So it could depend on when your phone was manufactured.

My unlock code request failed about a month ago, for a phone I got last October, but I'm going to try again this week.

Hi! I would like to suggest you try calling Cingular through their international number and tell them you are overseas. This might expidite the issue of the code to you. I tried to get it while in the States and I was denied.
Just a suggestion...

I called Cingular three weeks ago to request a code. They said it would be emailed out. Nothing. Then I called back today, got bounced around, and was given a subsidy unlock code. They said it was noted in the account, so those of you who have called in, you may want to ask the rep to check the account notes.

It is a 15 digit number, and they told me to enter it like this:

#pw+(15 digit unlock code)+1#

If anyone who received the unlock code was told to do it this way and it worked, please let me know. I can't wait!!!

Hi everyone.

Four weeks ago I had requested my unlock code from Cingular for the Nokia 6682. The agent told me that they don't have unlock codes for any Nokia phones any more (not just the 6682). Anyway, I went on an overseas trip with two phones, my 6682 for the phone book and an old GSM Nokia that I had bought overseas a long while ago. I had good reception on both phones. Since I could not put the local SIM into my 6682, I could not use it. I had not enabled international calls on it before I left.

Anyway, I am back from my trip now and decided to call Cingular again. I called yesterday and they were very accommodating and professional. She took my information and the IMEI number and told me that they will be sending me the unlock c...

Here is the update......

Three weeks after I requested my code, I hadn't heard any news. They said it would take 3 to 5 business days. anyway, i got this spaced out person that just did not understand what this whole thing with the unlock code was about. Finally she looked around and gave me a code....

It was 11 digits long (only...not 15).. Of course, this raised a question in my mind. I did not use it. Especially when I asked her about how to enter the code and she just said you enter it and the phone will be unlocked.

An hour later I called again, got another person (thank God) and explained that I did not think that the code I got was right. They told me they don't have a record of anyone giving me a code. Finally, they told me ...

You have to request it from Cingular directly. Call them and explain that you need to use your phone overseas and don't want to pay Cingular's rates.

I spoke for two weeks with $20 overseas. If I had used Cingular I would have blown that on a couple of calls. 🙄

Just be persistent. See my post above. I just got my unlock code today.

Sup everyone. I just got a Nokia 6682 but Im still with Tmobile. I called Cingular and I spoke to their Technical support group and I tld them that I bought this from a person and I have to go to Europe in a few weeks so I need this phone unlocked.
They took my information including name, email addy & phone number and they said they are going to submit a request to Nokia to get the code. They said wait 3 to 5 business days so we'll see how it goes.

He explained to me that every IMEI number has its own code but someone can also use the code as long as they have software to solve it and give the exact code numbers.

If I were you guys, do the samething I did. Call Cingular and ask them to get it unlock and they will submit a request to N...
