2 days ago I dropped my 6682 in a bucket of water. Although it seems to be working fine now, I can't pick up any bars. I thought maybe I ruined the sim card, but when I moved it to my old phone, it worked fine. I'm thinking that maybe I need to reset something on the phone, but I'm not sure and don't know how. I've only had it a month and I love it. Someone help please!!!!

In my experience, when a phone is exposed to water its done. Especially if it was fully submerged. I had a moto V400 that a cust brought in waterdamaged and left it alone over a weekend and it works fine (in fact, my roommate still uses it) so sometimes a phone can bounce back....altho the moto was just rained on. Water typically will not do anything to the sim, which is why your old phone works fine with it...

anyway, since cingular dosen't offer insurance on the phone, and you only got it a few months ago (I assume with a new contract) your looking at full retail to replace it. Yes, I know it sucks....people cuss me out for things less than this everyday. Just the messenger.

Thanks. The ohone itself seems to be working fine, I just can't get any bars. It says something like no service or something like that. I'm hoping a setting got messed up but I cant figure it out. I paid full retail for this phone. My husband works with a gadget geek, so he took it with him to see if maybe he can fix it. Thanks for the info. Wish me luck.

Actually it is covered by LockLine. I called & asked about it & they said yes. I had taken it off when I had my 7610, then read that it was covered. But only if you already have it on your account.

The phone was unlocked when I bought it. My husband's friend who's looking at it says it looks like its locked itself back up again. Is that possible? And how do I unlock it?

He says that the phone is not showing a carrier anymore. I don't know. It was unlocked when I bought it, I just put in my cingular sim card. Now it doesn't show any signs of having a carrier.

Do you already have insurance on your account? If you do I would just do a claim.

I don't, but even if I did, I just got off the phone with Cingular and they said their insurance doesn't cover water damage?? I didn't buy the phone from them either.

That's a bunch of garbage. I work for Cingular & that is exactly what they cover on insurance. Maybe they thought you meant warranty exchange. Water damage isn't covered on that.

Well...I'm gonna wait on the verdict from the gadget geek, but I'm already looking for a new one. Also, since u work for them, do u know what happened with the PTT service that was supposed to launch and do u have any suggestions for a new phone. Hubby is not gonna let me dish out as much as I paid for that one.

It isn't that much with Cingular. Do you know anyone else who has that phone?

Its not that much if you get a contract with it, but I had just started a new one and picked a crappy phone, so I had to pay retail. That was actually the best price I could find for an unlocked one.

I'll let you know about the PTT. I think it is the begining of next year. I'm waiting for my Cingular Rep to call me back.

PTT is not going to be available with this phone. Only the 6681, and not the 6682. The 6681 is the Euro model that does have PTT but in comming to America we traded that for the shiney little stainless steel trim on the side.
Just a lil more info, the 6680 actually has 2 cameras. 1 for normal use, and one for pimped out video confrences.

Thannah42000@yahoo.com. I actually found a guy online that is selling them for 189.99. Crazy huh? I emailed him, and that's the price he gave me. Supposed to be like wholesale or something. I posted his info in general topics.

I'm in California. That was my discount. If someone who wants it & isn't eligible walks in it's $375. The RAZR is ok. I just got some news that Cingular is going to release a V3 that has ITunes in it. They don't know if Apple is going to take the cap off the limit to the number of songs you can put on there. Cingular just lowered the price of the ROKR to $150 w/contract, $270 without. Hold off getting a V3 because that one with ITunes is coming soon. And my Cingular Rep just said Nov. 17 is the roll out for PTT.
