Anyone had their phone repaired at Nokia?????

I'm wondering if anyone has sent their phone in to Nokia for repair, and what was the outcome???

I've recently been alerted to what "Cingular" is calling an issue with the 64k Sim card. One of the manufacturers has had a bad batch, which is supposed to cause phones to behave "irregularly". I myself have doubts as to it being the SIM itself, I'm thinking it's more along the lines of firmware/hardware of the phone.

I've used the same 64k Sim in many of my older phones, and have not had any issues with them, that being said, the only thing that is different is the 6682. Basic troubleshooting would point to the common element, the phone, as the sim has been used in other phones, without issue.....but then again, "I could be wrong" 😉 ...

I believe you are correct.

There has been a new, seperate issue with some 64k sims becoming unusable. It was a certain batch. If you were one of the affected, your phone would all of a sudden, not give you access to the network.

The 6682 does have issues with 64k sims.

Thanks for confirming my logic wasn't totally out in left field.....

I read a post on here from someone stating their phone was coming back from Nokia, and was hoping to get some feedback on what was done, and more importantly......DID IT WORK????

Thanks,

I sent my phone in early last month. I should have it back by this tuesday. I told them there are three problems with the phone

1) Call log issue
2) SIM card to address book issue
3) MP3 player doesn't resume after the call is finished
4) The camera slide on the back of the phone will unlock the phone if moved.

Let's see what they actually fix. I'll let you know when I get it back.

Well I've come to the end of my journey. My phone finally made it to the right repair center. The problem is it's still waiting for parts. Nokia contacted me and offered to replace my phone with a comparable cingular phone. They would give me what I paid for the phone and I could buy a 6682 from them.

So after a month and a half I still don't have my phone, but I can get a phone from them. I'm going to wait until next year and get the N80. It supports the music player functions I'm looking for. It will pause music when a call comes in, and unpause it when the call finished. The 6682 will not do this. I also don't like the fact that the camera can activate when the back slides down even though the phone is locked.

Exactly............you're learning already....and I thought I was going to have to enroll you in the special olymics....... 😈

The phone is not manufactured to everyone's exacting tolerances, and I have yet to encounter anything that preforms flawlessly, right out the gate, that is why they have "revisions", like software, hardware, etc........

But you DON'T need to sit around and CRY about it, deal with it........like everyone else does.......

mrdeth, you're an exception, you probably find it hard to look at "yourself" in the mirror and deal with what is staring back at YOU 😈

Really is it that big of a deal that the camera activates and unlocks the keys TEMPORARELY until it slides closed? I mean would u like to activate the camera, but not unlock the keys? What kind of sense would that make? You could just become the CEO of nokia that way you can make a phone exactly for you in every way, and then listen to other people bitch about little things that you like. 🙂

Just got my phone back from nokia. I sent it in on the 9/29 and got it back on 12/20. They fixed the two big ticket items (call log and address book). Awhile ago they sent me a check for the phone ($400) and I thought it was over, but they sent my phone back repaired. It just took a really long time.

So, let me get this right. You got $400 AND your phone repaired? That's a hell of a deal if you ask me. I just sent mine in on the 12/19, and they said I should receive it by 12/29. I don't know if that's accurate after reading your post though.

1) Firmware version: 4.62.0
2) Still has cingular software on it
3) Same silver color
4) Not sure. I don't have another provider to test it with.

Also it now has the ability to resume songs when a call is finished. The default "music player" won't do it. I use a player called Ogg Player. My friend has the nokia unlocked 6682 and we tested it on his. When a call comes in it will pause the song. When it's finished it will start the song over. On mine it will pause when a call comes in, and when it hangs up it will resume play.

I've very happy with this phone now. I was thinking about the N80, but the only thing I really wanted was a resuming music player. The 3mpx camera doesn't have the picture quality of a standard digital camera. T...
