Using mp3's as ring tones

It took me a little while to figure this out but here it goes. The SLVR has two different music playing devices. One is a digital music player the other is the itunes player. mp3's you are using as ringtones can only be played in the digital music player and vice versa with mp3's listed in your itunes player. i suggest cutting down your mp3's to short clips of the songs since you aren't going to be hearing the entire song in a ringtone. i don't know how to do that but maybe someone can reply with a advice in that matter. So, without further adue, the steps!

1. Plug your phone into your computer using the USB cable that came with the phone.

2. open up the directory for the mass storage device (it always opens automatically on my com...

to answer your question on how to shorten the song here are the steps on how to do it...

1) Open iTunes.
2) Select the song to use as your ringtone.
3) Right click it and select get info.
4) Select the options tab.
5) Where it says start time and stop time you can change it to how long you want the ringtone to be.
6) Plug in your cell phone into the USB port and follow all of the steps above.

hope this helped...

Jsulley, I am going to try your steps as soon as i find where my phone is...hahahaha

The best thing to do is get Mp3 trimmer and just select the freakin part of the song you want then this program will proceed to trim and save your selection into a smaller size depending on how long you trim the song. If you try it your way, it will take up all of the damn phone memory. Even if you try to shorten the song length on itunes the file will still remain the same size. I have 10 different ringtones right now that I use for friends, text messaging, etc.. I bluetooth my special made ringtones to my friends phones. Also use Limewire if necessary!!! AAC files do not work with MP3 Trimmer, hence the name.
Here is the info: http://deepniner.net/mp3trimmer/
(do not buy it, it's free but slow, but who cares).
Here is a bonus surp...

Another trimming software to try is "Audacity" (do a search for it on google). It's very well-known, totally free and very easy to use (much easier to me than MP3Trimmer by a longshot). Lots of great features that allows you to add your own effects, fade-in or fade-out portions, adjust gain level, eliminate background noise, change speed or pitch levels, etc. Probably more features than the average user would need.

I use it to trim all my mp3's down to a short 25 second ringtone (about 150kb to 200kb file size). Takes me less than 5 minutes to trim, edit to my liking, and upload to my phone.
I hope this info helps!

preppy... use the USB cable supplied with your phone (or buy one if you didn't have one supplied). Hook it up to your phone and computer, then simply upload it.

Hi. I just created a ringtone for my phone using these steps. Very cool. Thanks. Anyhow, the problem I am having is that when I play the ringtone from the MyStuff folder, the entire ringtone (about 30 to 35 secs)will play. When my phone rings, the whole ringtone doesn't play before voicemail picks up. Is there a way to get the entire ringtone to play before the voicemail answers? Or do I have to cut the ringtone down? Thanks.

I bought a ringtone maker at best buy for $20 bucks and I can make my own ringtones and the way I transfer them to my phone is by using a usb bluetooth adapter.
