MP3 without iTunes?
Can I get music onto my SLVR (with the data cable it comes with) in MP3 format tht I already hae so I won't have to pay with iTunes?

yes, you can use the default media player
you know the screen where you pick if you want to look at pics, video's, music/ringtones, take pic, take video
if you go into the music menu, you can use that as a preety decent media player
it also lets you make playlist (something i havent been able to do in mototunes, just make sure you are using the thing on the SD card, not phone memory to see all your mp3's
