WON'T REPLACE YOUR DIGITAL CAMERA OR MP3 PLAYER

vm4500

The Samsung MM-A800 is no substitution for a stand alone Digital Camera or portable MP3 player.

For a Camera PHONE it is the best camera you can get right now. But if you are looking for clear crisp images you can get developed like any other stand alone digital camera you should save money and spend the extra money on just that a stand alone digital camera.
I know this because i made this mistake myself. The images are great for a "Camera PHONE" but compared to a 100 dollar 2 megapixel digital camera it can not stand up against it.
Now as a mp3 player it does its job but transfering those mp3 files is nothing short of a hassle. The phone doesn't come prepackaged with any software to help you; so in order to do this yo...

Here are the pictues i promised with little notes on teh bottom of the full resolution shots. Now remember these may look decent on your computer screen but when developed from a photo store they will not look good. They are washed out and the quality is not good.

Those are not full-res shots

Here are some nice 2MP photos I took. Blow everything else out of the water.

my pictures ive taken look alot better than any vm4500 had posted. Ive got a nice photo printer and they look pretty decent in 4x6. But no this phone should not be a camera replacement. Ive got an 8 megapixel camera and i use it on vacations and family events and all my important stuff. But its pretty big and i dont want to take it every where. With this phone ive got a decent (no its not perfect) camera with me at all times, without worring about two devices (small phone and small camera) As long as i have my phone, which i always do, ive got a camera... As for the MP3s, my computer has an sd card slot right up front, pop card in move songs to media folder( can even put whole folders in there to oganize music) and bobs your uncle. Ma...

I don't think people comprahended most of what I was trying to express in my earlier post but I'm not entirely sure so let me restate this in another way.

This phone is marketed to consumers as a phone that will play your MP3s and take quality photos (for a 2 megapixel camera) but in reality works just merely ok for subjects that are very close and do not have a lot of detail such as a Tuolumne's pictures of a Heinz ketchup bottle label and a magazine ad.

And yes Tuolumne my picture uploads are full res shots you either failed to realize that the website just shrank the image to fit on most screens but if you were to copy and stretch it would be exactly the same as yours the file size is the right size for a full 2 meg...

man, your full of it. its marketed fine. it has a nice camera on it. it has more options than any other camera phone ive seen thus far. it takes nice pics. the mp3 player is a nice add on. its a nice all in one phone. i havnt seen where its been marketed to replace a digital camera or mp3 player. i have a 4500 also and its a great phone. ill say that the a800 takes better pictures, has a bigger/better screen, more options. i like the a800, its a great phone and samsung should break their arm patting themselves on the back for this one. laterZ

Please don't tell me or other people that they will be dissapointed. Just because you believe something doesn't mean that is is the all end truth.

Get real, and then look at the flower shots I posted. Freaking AWSOME for a cameraphone.

It's all about convergence too. I can be listening to MP3s while I get a call and I can just transfer over. I can upload and send photos accross the country with the click of a button. Can you do all this with standalong equipement? No...

Get a clue and then come back with a rebuddle 😁

You seem to be the person that would complain to the Fast Food manager becuase the burger doesn't look exactly like the picture (advertisement) come on, you are crying over symantics.

I haven't seen any marketing about this replacing everything. It's marketed as an all in one. This means that you don't have to carry your Ipod Shuffle, your 3.2 MPixel camera, AND your phone everywhere, it's the convenience of having them all in one device.
With that convenience one should assume some quality loss. Yes it's a 2.0 MPixel camera, so it won't compare to a dedicated 2.1 Mpixel camera with a better lens and such. It has an Mp3 player, but it's player software is not comparable to an Ipod Shuffle, it will still suffice for someone that doesn't ...

I don't know, those 2MP shots you posted vm4500 don't look full res to me either. I even clicked ont he pics to make sure that they were as big as they would get. It looks like you took them at 800x600 which is the max resolution that the A800 will do with the slider open. To get the full 2MP resolution, the slider must be closed so that the phone looks like a normal camera. If you don't believe it, open up the slider, go into the camera mode and try to change the resolution. You will get a message that says something like, "maximum resolution with the slider open is 800x600". The 2nd set of pictures are true, full-size photos from the A800.

A 2 MP camera is worthless. Best Buy has a 3.2 MP Kodak for $99.00 that would blow this away. 🙂
