i was able to fix the problem by flashing my firmware from 24R to 6FR. see http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t= 726528 for instructions.

i had an issue trying to install this software; something about the D: drive being default. i fixed this by changing HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersio n\Setup\BootDir from D:\ to C:\
