Motorola V635
Here are the v635 probs
First,
This phone is hardly perfect out of the box, far from it. The chances are you will get the 24r flash(software) and it has many bugs. Problem 1. Voicemail. When you get a message you do not get a icon but a text message instead with a @ or a symbol!. You then get a second message after you check your mail. I do not use text messages so if you do the math you are looking at 20 cents for every message and yes it adds up.
Problem 2.
The video recording with 24r is terrible. The sound is 1 to 2 seconds off from the pictures and for me is a waste.
Problem 3. Forget about the fast forward cradle. I use to save 500 min a month with my v400 but you guessed it, it will not work with the v635 no matter what the flash you have.

I have to disagree with this statement - I was a total flashin n00b and I flashed my v635 out of the box to 6FR with no problems at all.
The average joe can flash the phone fine if he or she spends some time researching. If someone is not willing to do that, I would agree with you and say skip this phone and get one you don't have to mod.

This is the "I won't get up to get the remote usa" Do you really think that people want to get this phone knowing they will have to do research to find out how to flash a phone?
After several hours on howards I have no idea how to flash a phone. They talk about needing things like p2kman infranview? who the heck knows. How did you have this step by step guide at your side? My IQ is only 133 so I guess I lacking here.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to attack you, just stating my opinion. I got the phone knowing I would need to mod it and I did. I agree, it's not for everyone.
I didn't have a step by step guide - I just figured it out. It was hard for me, but I really wanted the phone so I worked through it. I am actually working right now on a step by step guide for flashing the phone, but I might have to post it here instead of HoFo due to the fact that it is for use with RSD Lite (waay easier to use than p2k. I couldn't figure that nonsense out either) and I can't include links to the program over there.
The problem with the v635 is that it wasn't picked up by a US carrier, so I guess nobody bothered to try & improve it.

Also, as I said I used the ff cradle with my v400 everyday. I get home put it in and all my calls go to my home for free for only 3 bucks a month.I called cingular before getting the phone and was told that it should work but of course what do they know. Just this fact that the v635 is not compatible with this is enough for me but when you add that my phone also reads ...

That sucks about your fast forward cradle, but as far as your phone saying "mp3 ready - no", that means nothing. Mine says that too, but I've been playing mp3s on it fine for weeks. A lot of others say that too, but apparently it has no effect on mp3s at all. I don't really know why its like that.
The guide is not quite ready, and I have to put in some disclaimer language in huge letters about how I'm not responsible for paperweights, but I'll be working on it a little more tomorrow night.

Tracymarie is right. If you did your research like you said you did, you would have known that you had to edit the phone to get it to work right. NOW, I am not attacking you either, I'm just letting you know that I too have done my research and I did know about editing for more than 2 months now. I havent bought the phone then or now because now the A910 seems very promising. Yours is a nice phone. I am still tempted sometimes now that the phone has dropped considerably in price and I am sure that if I do buy it I will have to flash it. Hold on to it and wait for Tracy's manual.
PS- The phone was released in Canada and most of Europe and no complaints from there. Trust me I've done the research. I dont know why the US did not want it, but...
