Motorola V635
BROWSER settings...Help!
I have tried to find information about setting up the internet etc. features and I am coming up short...
Cingular stores do not have a clue, and no one at customer care seems to be able to track it down readily...I was hoping someone has a list of the settings??
Does anyone have the V635 fully functional in the US? How about the "Great Lakes" area?
Text messaging works, phone calls and voicemail are okay...No picture messaging and I'm sure I can't have ringtones sent (since they're browser messages from the cingular site). Any help out there?
What is o2 by the way?
Anyone get rid of the German/other language parts still left on the phone (quick notes and in predictive dictionary)?
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm awaiting my V635 (to be delivered tomorrow!) and have done a bit of research. The best way to "program" the internet, Multimedia Messaging, etc seems to be using this link:

Although I won't know until tomorrow if it will work or not! When it asks what phone you have, choose the "V551".
Seems to work when I tried "updating" my V400.

That worked with the 551 settings...I had configured one myself and it was being sketchy but this one appears to go all the way (without getting page errors)...Only tried the MEdia net page though...Here's the issue I'm worried about though...
No ringtones compatible from cingular site...What can we do about that? I tried having one sent to the phone as a V600 (my previous phone), but it still says no suitable version for your device or something. Do you know how to get through that??

I would just create my own ringtones and transfer them to the phone through the USB. Its a little slow but solves the problem and its free. I do it for my wife's V400 and I use a little software to convert mp3's to a smaller frequency band and crop the song. It works great. 😁

That sounds good...was going to be my question if I couldn't get the tones off the cingular site (will that ever happen??)

Any chance you could walk me through to test if I can do the MP3s to ringtones part on the phone? I have a Mac and a PC with Windows XP...I have the CD and USB cable that came with the phone, haven't tried them yet. Any guidance would be great...Thanks again.

MP3 ringtones work. I have both uploaded them to my V635 via MPT (pain in the butt)and also downloading them using a service through http://www.3gupload.com. It costs about $14 for 6 months of downloads and gives you a place to upload you own MP3 clips and then using your phone's browser, download them to your phone.
I haven't checked to see if you can download "Mobile IM" from Cingular with a V635 or not. But I'll be checking! If not, it may be possible to use MPT to "rip" it off my V400 and put it on my V635 - not sure if that would work or not though.
That pesky roam triangle will pop up once in a while, from what I have found in the past 10 hours I have had the phone. You can get rid of it by going to settings > network > available...

I also would like to know the software used. I have searched all over for mp3 ringtones of my favorite band, and all that's available is polyphonic. I just want to be able to cut out the intro so that when it rings, it jumps right into the song or chorus.
