Samsung SCH-i730 shared memory and design flaws

The Samsung SCH-i730 has great features. I had it for one week. But, it has major design flaws: 1. Verizon and Samsung have decided NOT to include a small portable user manual for this complicated phone. That's a huge mistake. Downloading the pdf file is not a good answer.
2. The Verizon tech support for SCH-i730 is clueless. They shipped me to Samsung, which placed me on hold for hours, 4 times. I never got to talk to their real tech support (only the front end people who ask you the same questions like your serial numbers...). Never got the problem fixed.
3. This phone has a very small shared memory. It also does not allow it's shared memory to extend this memory via the SD memory. The result is two or three large files will kill the mem...

More input from our testing of Samsung SCH-i730
First, I have to say, that in 24 years of testing new products, I have never seen any product ever with so many defects and design flaws. My God, makes you wonder, where are the engineers and testers in Samsung. Summary of problems we have found so far:
1. There is a major design flaw with the placement of voice command key on the right side of the phone. It sits in the exact physical location as the side bars of the docking port. Therefore, every time you place the phone in the docking port to establish Active Synch, voice command it gets activated.
2. Voice mail notification is non existence.
3. The cheap headphones that come with the phone work some of the time. The connectivity...

While the docking cradle clip covers a portion of the button, In my experience, the button isn't activated by placing the unit in the cradle.

2. Voice mail notification is non existence.

There are missed called and voice-mail notifications. By default, an alert will appear at the top of the screen and if there are other alerts, a reminder balloon will also appear. ...

I had to call Verizon tech support with questions about EVDO and connection settings and have had good experiences.

As far as the back light going off during a call, that is adjustable. I just met with a samsung rep this afternoon and he walked me through that setting. If you really can't figure it out, let me know and i will post the exact steps tomorrow.

Clearly you have spent more time compiling a list of your frustrations than you have researching solutions. As others have already pointed out, many of your issues have answers, and others would lead me to believe that you just aren't comprehending the differences between the way the mobile OS works compared to regular desktop windows.
There is just a great difference in the way resources must be treated when battery life is extremely scarce (and in reality, this phone has ample such resources in comparison with other PDAs and phones). Once you understand those, you'll understand why things work the way they do. My guess is that once you understand those, you'll also have come across many other ways to work more successfully with them su...

I totally agree this device works horrible as a phone I used 3 different bluetooth headsets volume was almost none existant and lots of static the battery life is rediculouly short with standard or extended your fortunent to make it through the day, I had maybe four conversations each less than 5 minutes the extended battery was half gone by midday as a straight PDA it o.k but not worth 500.00 bucks I'm going to just deal with the inconvienece of two devices and stick with my E815 phone and purchase a Dell Axim form Ebay or something.
