I installed WM5 on my phone. The info shows up with this sequence:

About
The About screen says Microsoft Windows Mobile Version 5.0
Note that you need to click "About" and not "Version." The Version tab tells you something about the hardware, not the software.
I don't know anything about the voice announcing program.
