Samsung SCH-i730
Still worth it today?
I'm in the market for a new phone and considering the i730, but realize it's a few years old and wonder if it's worth it.
I like the samsung u740, but would like more robust PDA functionality.
But, I can't afford another $40/month for the data plan, so am pulled towards the i730 for the wifi. I'm not sure that the Q or the env are worth it w/out the data plan (and no wifi).
Any thoughts?

Yes its worth it. I bought it 2 weeks ago and love it...WiFi works great...you can buy the 10mb plan as well for like 20 dollars. All the problems people bitch about with this phone i havent experienced with. I did upgrade to windows mobile 5.
Also, it is 2 years old...but it still has more memory than most smartphones and its processor is stronger than most today as well...There really isnt much negative to say...it even includes the docking station...2 batteries...belt clip..
and its touch screen for 99 dollars with a data plan..i love it

I just got mine for free, plus tax.
Vzn's online store sells them for $199, minus a $100 promotion, equals $99 with a 2 year contract (no data contract required). I applied my New in Two $100 and got the phone got the phone for free. I had to pay the socialists in Sacramento sales tax on the full retail value of the phone, $48, and I got an extra case for about $13 plus tax and a car charger for about $30 plus tax. VZN even Fedexed it to me for free. The total was well under $100. I'm sure I could have done a lot better on the case and charger else were, but this was quick and convenient.
The only downside to this is that the resale value for those who paid $600 for theirs will really suck. 😎
