Many Problems...

Hello All,

I have the Samsung SCH-I730 (non-GSM version from VZW). I have had this phone for approximately 4 months. When I insert my SD card into the SDIO slot, my signal strength degrades a lot. Sometimes, I receive no signal at all, even with a fully charged battery. I upgrade the PRL frequently and still experience the problem. I have hard reset my phone one manually, and one time so far my phone hard reset itself on its own! Also, this phone drops calls like crazy. This phone has also turned on the backlight on its own for no reason (no call, voicemail, text, e-mail etc). Is anyone else experiencing issues such as these? I paid $400 for this thing and it is bascially a PDA paperweight. Any feedback/assistance is appreciated. Thanks!!...

I am using 2003SE. Is the WM5 an official release from Verizon Wireless? If so, how do i obtain it? Thanks for your help.

It's on the Verizon website...under support for your phone. It is best to use a computer that you have never used to synch your i730 with. The upgrade can hang if you already have Samsung drivers on your computer. And that is a mess. So use a completely different computer than you use to Activesync with.

I recommend going to pdaphonehome.com..the sd card issue has been discussed a bunch. I didn't have this problem but I think it might have been related to certain sd cards. They also can help you through the WM5 install and if you search the forum, I think you will find that any question you have already has an answer, so you will have your solutions. Good Luck.

Well, since I was fed up with all of the issues with my phone, I sent it to Samsung for warranty repair. Guess what? The phone turns itself off and is in "complex repair" awaiting parts from overseas. When I get the phone back, I am going to Verizon Wireless to try and get my money back for the phone. This is ridiculous for a $400 phone/PDA.

first of all why did you send ot to samsung???? that is what the technitions are for at your local VZW store? As long as you didnt get it wet or physically damaged it, it is under warrenty..you made a bad choice there, and might be waiting a while for its return.."good luck" getting your money back..(4 months) come be real

What brand and size is your SD card? If it is a Gig, I'd try a 512 or if it is a lexar, you might try a sandisk or vice versa
