Remote Control
Here's an interesting question. I tried to make the remote control feature 'learn' my garage remote, but it didn't work. It works great for the TV remotes and so on. Are the garage remotes a different type of signal that can't be learned?
I think it would be cool to open your garage from a cell phone. Perfect for those days that you lock yourself out.

your garage probably has a "rolling code" which can not be learned by a universal type remote

Most, if not all, TV remotes use IR and established codes. The i730 has high output IR which can be used for TV's, VCR's, etc..
Garage door openers normally use RF and are tuned for specific frequencies. The i730 only has a few frequencies e.g. voice, data, WiFi, Bluetooth, maybe a few others. It is not likely that it would nor could have transmitters built in for each garage door opener frequency plus the ones it needs for communication.

If they used rolling codes,...

You are correct about the garage opener using RF, however almost all newer (4 or 5 years old) garage door openers do use a rolling code, however you can program your home-link (Cadillac, BMW, Honda, etc.) to use a rolling code, you have to use the program button located on the garage door opener.
I don't think this phone can transmit on the RF frequencies?

Thanks for the info. I hate being wrong, but I hate being wrong and not knowing it, more.
Thanks again.
