Blackberry support?

Does anyone know what this means exactly. I noticed in the specs under email client it lists BlackBerry as one of the protocols. I can't find any other reference to this online and wondered if this was a rumor or a third party plugin or what.

I also just talked to my Verizon Rep for our business account and she said that they are telling her that June 23rd is the magic date for business/enterprise users whatever that means. I don't know if they will start taking orders on that date or just use that date to announce an official date or what.

Do you know anything about BlackBerry support. This would be huge for our business since we have a BlackBerry server and we are running a version of Exchange that won't support Treos.

DAMN THAT SUCKS! maybe because Microsoft is going to release that exchange 2003 mmc snap in for support to win mobile 2005 clients (assuming that either verizon offers a wm5 upgrade or that the snap in software for exchange 2003 can also work with window mobile 2003 devices , via a software upate of sorts)

There are probably some issues with getting this device out in a timely manner with Blackberry Connect capability. I'm sure RIM has some say-so when it comes to the devices that are "approved" for use with their enterprise servers.

Ditto

What it means is that it either has teh software installed or that the device is certified to have the blackberry client be run off of it, and have BES to communicate. In other words, like palm hand helds and other pda devices wih blackberry client installed, you can retrieve yoru email and such in real time like the regular hardware blackberry's.

Hope that helps and answers your question.

Something that VZN may be waiting for is for the patent infringement lawsuit against Blackberry to be settled. One week it's close, the next week it's toilet paper. Blackberry says they have an option if the ruling goes against them, but it involves a tech changes. Maybe VZN is concerned with compatibility issues if changes have to be made and want to wait until the suit settles.

The other option is that VZN is up to their old tricks of crippling great products to the point of mediocrity.

Agreed, that makes sense. This whole litigation of the patent lawsuit between ndi and blackberry i think is kinda blown way out of proportion, but enought to make an impact.

Then again, after hearing all the vzw customrs saying they have a nack to kill off great features, i wouldnt' be suprised if they excluded it out.

Likewise, it shouldn't be expected too much for those who really want to look for a blackberry alternative until some of us have a chance to test it out. I know being a user, and a BB user, it's too hard not to pass up seeing a device support rim's features. When i get mine, i'll let you know whats up. That or anyone else on this forum who gets theres soon.
