I spoke with Verizon and they said 😢 😢 d the I730 will be available on June 23 thru the business unit. I currently use the treo 650 and this phone sucks. Dropped calls, unit resets itself, sync works when it wants, locks up, and software glitches. This was my 4th unit, in 30 days, verizon service issue? Not likely, maybe if it was 1 unit but not 4. Palmone service levels REALLY SUCKS TOO, You wait on hold with them for over an hour, only to be told "CALL VERIZON they support the handhelds for verizon users" . WOW I asked if Verizon also mfg the unit they of course said "NO" but "PALM will not take any ownership in the problems". Having gone thru 4 units it can only be imagined how much time I spent on the phone with various tech supp...

I had the Treo 600 with Sprint service. The only difference that I had from you is is that my phone wait times were 2-3 times longer with Sprint.

Some differences:

EVDO (huge)
WiFi?
Better camera?
Bigger display
Same size
Pocket PC vrs. Palm OS
Samsung vrs. Palm
Better MS Office compatibility
Bluetooth Active Synch

Well guys, I "used" to be a treo owner. and I totally understand kk1234 what you're going through. Just a quick recap, I think Palm has just given up on their quality on the treo's. I had 3 treo 600's fail on me, and 3 treo 650's fail on me as well, and those were all within less than a year.

As soon as i heard that this phone came out in CES, i was all over it. After purchasing it, first of all, let me clarify to the other users, THSI PHONE DOES NOT HAVE A CAMERA. But what it lacks, it definitely makes up for everything else. EV-DO is the new high speed network, which you will get an average of 400-600k and more (apparently 2.4Mbps). the samsung i730 supports this. Also it supports wifi for 802.11 networking, BETTER bluetooth ...

VZW2003, right, but because WM2k3 and WM5 is gaining ground, it is becoming more apparent that there is more support for Windows Mobile every day/year , and i have no doubt that there are alot of apps and apps being made for Windows mobile.

Keep in mind, the Samsung i730 just came out. You can't really compare the phone to the treo 650, since the treo came out a while back and has had history with the treo 600. If that's the case, you can extend samsung's line back from the i600 and i700's.

All in all, it's better to weigh out the options, than be so lopsided IMHO. 🙂

hchen is right when he said that Palm has been around longer and has been a very popular OS, so you would expect more applications. The problem with Palm is that you HAVE to buy the additional applications because the Palm OS is so stripped down.

The current PPC has a lot of applications native to the OS, so you don't have to buy as many apps, ie. you have to buy DataVis if you want to work with Word or Excel Docs. with Palm vrs. using the real Word and Excel which is native in PPC. The new Windows Mobile 5 has even more capabilities.

Does the Treo 650 have voice dialing? Do you have to train it or does it automatically recognize any voice command?

How is it on the i730?

With VoiceSignal software, do you have to train it to recognize your contacts or do you just say the name of a contact and it will dial it for you?
