just a helpful hint to those of you who are accessorising their phones. DO NOT try to replace the antenna it is stationary and not a screw on ,
if you try to remove it you will break it ruining the phone. i learned this the hard way and am sharing it with you so you dont have to. 🙂

Did you try to unscrew the antenna, or did you open up the case and attempt to remove it that way?

Your message timing is perfect. I was all set to order an aftermarket extendable antenna from daydeal.com, where they seem to have replacements specifically for the 8100. Guess I'll hold off 😕

i tried to screw it off and it broke!
its internally mounted and not to be removed.

I just recently bought a new antenna and replaced the antenna on my LG VX-8100 and it was pretty easy.
1. To start power off and take out battery.
2.There are 3 screws where the battery goes, use a precision phillips head or flat head(I used a flat head, it was smaller) to remove.
3. Then loosen the two screws at the bottom of the phone around where the charger plugs in.
4. Next you have to pry out the two rubber corks at the top of the phone by the antenna. Remove the two screws hidden underneath. You should now have a total of 7 screws.
5. Carefully pop the back casing up slowly and evenly, some of it snaps into place so it feels as if it can't be removed but you won't break anything, the mini SD cover and camera button may pop out of...

After reading this thread last night I got curious and took the back off my 8100 to see how the antenna was stuck in there. If you take the back off, the antenna is being held in by a screw that goes into a little metal bracket. You take the screw out and the antenna just slides right out.

but the ones they sell at daydeal.com are screw on and do not fit so i dont understand why they say it fits the 8100 because none of them do i ordered two and they dont fit so dont bother ordering them. maybee someone else has the right ones but they sure arent screw on. and thanks for the info on how to get it off thanks 😁

my experience is that after market antennas seldom work as well as the original, they are usually of subpar quality. this is just a broad statement in general for i have never seen an aftermarket 8100 antenna, but the ones we have received for other models have been shabs.
