Need Help with Version 5 software before I give up on this phone!!!

I am a long time LG customer. I have had the LG 510, 4400, 6000, 7000, 8000, and now the 8100. I have had the vx8100 since it was firsr released in July. I have replaced my handset 5 times, and I have had a fru replacement sent to me from the insurance company. My major issue is with the volume fluctuation. Other than that, this phone is perfect to me. However, after 3 months of waiting for a fix, I can no longer wait, without even knowing if it will ever be addressed. I have raised hell with Verizon and LG about it for quite some time, but I have not received any help, besides, swap it out again, or they will give me another model phone. I want to stay with the vx8100 because I love everything else about it, and I have invested mone...

First off, it's never too late because after you go through three of the same model phones, they will give you a comparable model instead. I have had many many replacements. Secondly, why don't you try the E815. It's a great phone. I had LG phones in the past too and went through 3 VX6000's and also 3 VX-8000's and then upgraded to a 710 and now to a 815. 😁

I would, but honestly, I don't like the Moto E815 at all. It feels too big and bulky to me. I don't like the fact that it doesn't have the mp3 buttons on the outside, and the build feels too cheap to me. The only Moto I would try is the Razr, however, that one won't have expandable memory. I do, however love the Moto's reception. I love everything about the vx8100 except the fluctuating earpiece volume. I am looking into the samsung A950 now.

The big question is when is Verizon going to put out a phone without major bugs in it. First I had the V710 - we all know what was wrong with that phone, EVERYTHING!!!! Then they replaced that with the e815 when my software kept locking up. So the...

I too was having the volume issue. I went to the verizion store last night and they have the software to update to version 5. So far it seems to be working just fine. It also seems to have boosted the signal strength in the spots I was having trouble before. Lets hope this solves the problems. Check with your local verizion store they should have it. Hope this help you out.

Has anyone tried the Auto Volume feature? I'm not sure the exact problem you're having, but I've found I have to reach for the volume button much less frequently with this turned on. This has helped both with my Jabra c120 headset and while holding the phone to my ear.

The volume problem is real, and is pretty bad. It seems that you agree, since you're on your third phone. Why don't you save your retarded comments for your therapist?

Hi,
To everyone having the volume problem, and who have been told by both LG and Verizon that they are not aware of a problem, THEY ARE! My neighbor got the 8100 and she asked me if I was having volume "issues", which I am not, knock on wood. She was very frustrated so I called Verizon for her to see about swapping her phone. The tech informed me that this was a known issue with these phones and that it is documented, that LG is aware of it AND are currently working on a fix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just thought I'd pass this info on.

Not sure if it is software update or harware, just said they are working on a fix. It was a technician I spoke to over the phone. I had first spoke with CS, who put me through to a tech.

I asked if you had yahoo messenger because I wanted to chat with you further about 8100 stuff. I, as well as others from howardforums, chat on yahoo messenger from time to time, about the vx8100, and other cell phone stuff. Just like on here, but better because it's in real-time, instead of just posts.

Why Do you Need Verizon To Keep you Informed You Have this Place Full Of Informed People?
And As Youve Seen in other posts people here and On Howard Forums and Wireless Advisor Know Stuff then go into a store where MOST (not all) Employees wander around looking clueless
Exployees Who Are Cell Junkies Are the ones who usually post here anyways seek them out they are your best bet for the latest

Sorry for asking. No need to be rude.

I use this place as a reference. I like to get the "official" word from VZW before I go in to the store and wait 15 hours in line. That's all I was asking - How we'd know FOR SURE if it was a hardware problem and then what to do.

Want Intending On Sounding Rude Sorry if It Came Across As Such
All I meant Really Was that Majority Of Verizon People Are Well.... They Dont know much Very Rarely Do you find one who knows what he/she is talking about

The ones that do are usually the ones who hang out here

Sorry for coming off as brash

Hope Yours and Everyone elses Issue Is Corrected Soon

In my Area Ive Noticed the Volume Issue Mainly Depends on the Area I am in which makes me wonder if it isnt reception based
when I travel to some Larger Cities I have the Problem somewhat but not as bad then I wondered if Every tower has different equipment
could that be a factor?
No clue here let us hope for good news soon

That's okay 😁 I understand what you mean about some of the Verizon people not being very well informed (unless they actually own that particular phone).

I sure hope the issue is fixed soon, too. I had an LG 4500, but gave it to someone when I bought this one. Oh well. I heard Version 5 *should* be out sometime before the year is over. We can only hope! 😁

I just brouoght my brand new 1 week old 8100 into the verizon store here in Manhattan and complained of the volume issue.

They have taken my phone and will return it to me at 12:00 o'clock today.

I will keep you posted but I can say that when I went in and complained about the problem, the guy looked at me like I had three heads.

UPDATE!!!

I spoke to customer service this morning and went through my problems YET AGAIN!!!

The person I was talking to happened to be much nicer than the one last night. After discussing my phone options I asked about the LG vx9800 and said the only thing that bothered me about getting it was having to pay the $100 difference when clearly I am not being given the service I should have right from the start. The woman asked if "we gave you a $50 credit towards the phone would that help?" I said "OH YEAH!"

So i went to the Verizon store in Times Square again and explained it to them and they are now swapping my address book to a new LG vx9800.

I am not sure about the pricing as of yet since the last thing I heard from the tech w...

Here is the latest.

I am now the proud owner of the LG vx9800.

At first, when I went into the store, I was told by a manager that I must be unclear about what bluetooth options are available for the verizon phones since none of them are able to be used for DUN. I let him know that he must be unclear as I was able to do it with the display model he was pointing to. He asked if I was sure and I let him know which technician stood and watched over my shoulder as I did it.

Well, that done they gave me my phone and I am happy to say that the DUN is working perfectly and I love the QWERTY keyboard.

I will keep the forum popsted if I run into any issues but one thing I know that I will not do is let them update the software since they w...

Did you get it updated with V04? Because the only real difference you'll notice is that you can now use your MP3 player. I didn't lose anything, including pics, when I got mine updated. If they do it right, you should still have everything you had before they did it.
Check your SW version and see if it is V04, because we all have that already and assume everyone else does to. We are waiting to hear something on V05 or higher. Please let us know what yours says. To find it go to MENU-SETTINGS & TOOLS-4.SYSTEM-3.DEVICE INFO-2.SW VERSION. Currenty the latest we all know of is: T81VZV04, so please let us know what yours says.
Thanks in advance.

Neither LG or VZW will ever 'admit' to a problem. It would leave them open for a law suit. VZW tested and released this phone knowing of the problems. Admit to it? Hell no. They would lose another class-action suit like the v710. 😎 😎

I'm seriously about ready to give up on this phone that plays STATIC instead of MP3s when in an area of No Service - but I could deal with that if it wasn't for the fact that 1/2 the time I can't hear the person on the other line because the phone wants to play see-saw with the volume.

Has anyone heard when the next Version of software will be here? I don't have too much longer until my time runs out to swap for a different model and there's nothing I like now, but I heard something about the Razr Coming Soon. I'm so confused đŸ˜ŗ
