miniSD card affecting Batter Life

After I bought a 128mb miniSD card my battery didn't even last 48 hours with less than a half hour of talk time. Went to Verizon and had them replace the battery but it didn't change anything. As soon as I took out the miniSD the battery worked like it's meant to. Does that mean that my phone is constantly scanning the card rather than just when needed? Has this happened to anyone else or am I all alone?

I have noticed the same thing. Once I got my mini SD card and started using it my battery life dropped. I've been experimenting with it and I have definitely noticed a shorter battery life when I have the card in.

Charging it nightly keeps your battery in good shape? I was told the opposite. If you tain your battery to operate for only 14 hours and then it gets a recharge, won't it limit the life of the battery. For example, when you get a new electronic device with a Li Ion battery, aren't you supposed to charge it fully before using it and then don't recharge it until it goes dead that way you train the battery to use all of its potential? I'm no tech, but that's the understanding I had.

No. There have been several posts on here about Li Ion batteries and how to charge them. To simplify, charge them fully when you first get them. No need to run down fully that first time. After that, frequent, even daily charges are good. About once a month, or after about 30 times on the charger, let it run down until you get the low battery warning, and then fully re-charge. That's about it.

I was getting poor performance from my standard battery and was asked by a Verizon rep if I let it charge all night. When I said yes, he told me the manual clearly states that you should never leave the phone plugged into the charger for more than 4 hrs. I never found that in the manual but was curious if this guy knew what he was talking about. P.S. I bought an extended battery and it works great.

I am facing similar sitiuation, my battery work perfect without SD card, with SD card if I do not keep for charge everynight, it die in the middle of night. This was not happend without SD car. So there is another bug....for sure.

I concur that this is NOT a bug. I got a 1GB Sandisk MiniSD right after getting the phone and never saw any issues. With the standard (thin) batt I got a couple days with typical talk times. The biggest drain comes from using the mobile web and/or playing lots of games and keeping the keypad lights on and display non-dimmed.

After the phone was a little over a year old, I noticed the original batt not lasting as long (maybe a day and a half) and now I'm on the extended and haven't looked back. About 4 to days sometimes between charges with similar usage. And no, the card never leaves the phone since I've extended a bunch of pics onto it as the phone's internal memory has filled.

My suggestion would be perhaps to try another brand ...
