I took this off the Qualcomm website and they had a drop down regarding BREW and why choose it.

"With BREW, your needs come first: You own the relationship with your subscribers, you decide which apps to offer, and you determine the level of interaction you want with publishers and developers."

Last time I checked wasn't the rule of business your CUSTOMERS ALWAYS come first.

Vzw decided to go with brew much longer before BT was in the picture. Brew is also a way customers can't mess up their phone. The content you would DL using brew would be 100% safe because you know vzw put it there. BT is not an alternative to brew because brew is able to be accessed anywhere your phone can get a digital signal.. BT just transfers files from your computer.. it can't connect directly to vzw network like brew can. They were thinking about the customer.. I totally agree with you in that security is an issue and with using Brew as a means that keeps people from messing up thier phone (why should VZW pay to replace your phone because you downloaded a virus). I guess what bothers me the most is if you go to VZW's website and click on the Bluetooth products it comes up with a very laughable list of only 4 products and only 1 of these is a dedicated phone -the V710 and the rest are PDA type devices.

The only reason I want Bluetooth is because I hate the headset phone cords and am glad the 8100 will free it up. I don't care about downloading files.
