Bluetooth

For those who may ask... No, Bluetooth will be be fully active in this phone. Here's why: Verizon stated themselves that because of agreements with BREW developers, they cannot allow any phone with BREW to have the OBEX Bluetooth profile. Which is what happened with the Motorola V710. Sorry, touch luck! ☹️

So are you saying that you cannot use something like a Jabra Headset with this phone. The only thing I want it to do is be able to answer and initate calls using the headset buttons if I can't get to the phone.

I don't care about hook-up to a PC.

Yeah, but you have to pay for it that way. And that is the problem with VZW. This is precisely why I have a Cingular phone too. Because they don't disable these functions. They actually let you transfer things from one device to another without using their network free of charge.

What happens to a company that doesn't keep up with its competitors financially? They end up raising prices or cutting jobs or "revamp" policies to make up money. Complain all you want about not being able to transfer files to try to get free ringtones and games but I think vzw is very justified in its actions. Maybe if there was a way to transfer only certain files that would eliminate the issue of transfering ringers and games but ill leave that to the tech guys to figure out. Cingular isn't going anywhere for a while but they have already changed their price plans to regain loss of profit. What else will they do? Just so the minority of their customers can transfer files with bluetooth. Something so trivial can impact business revenue is ...

Cingular is not losing revenue on their services due to allowing full file transfer. They lost money due to taking on a losing entity (AT&T) and spending to convert them over.

And my bluetooth needs are not for ringtones and games. I actually use it for what it was intended for....Actual files and emails from PDA's and Computers to my phone. As well as backing up my Contacts and things of that sort. Fully functional bluetooth and infrared capabilities are very useful in the business world. At least they are in my business.

I am not, in any way, saying that VZW is a bad company. What I am saying is that there are actual justifiable business uses for the features that VZW cripples. It is not just for ringtones and games (I would...

I agree with tommyboy, seems to have a good point, the matter is not if but when the problem arises. I suspect that Verizon is expecting the problem to only grow in the next 12-24 months and they will have no choice but to resolve the problem. As for now it is trivial to worry about such things. If worse comes to worse, Verizon can make a stand like Wal-mart did when MasterCard (MC) started charging outragous amounts for fees and Walmart stopped accepting there cards there. Its all business and you have to know how business works, everyday someone invents somethng that makes life easier, but the product doesn't go anywhere because people don't really need it yet. Just like when Mp3's first arrived, did you know that the technology sat on th...

you it is smaller and better shaped than the VX8000, but I wonder why it weighs more. I am glad to see LG make a Bluetooth phone, it is great since I will only Buy LG(Life's Good) I love their name. At first I hated LG phones then they got the VX4500 and I realized how good they are at designing phones. I can't wait to the the 8100 and a Jabra BT880 or something better if it is available. maybe color or something cool like that. But this is the phone for me crippled or not.
