Question about MiniSD card
Hi, I know that verizon cripples their bluetooth so you pay for picture/ringtone download, but is it possible to just take the SD card out, put it in your computer and then copy everything you want on it? or is the SD card crippled too?

Judging from what Verizon did with the Audiovox 8940, the SD card will be crippled. Anything they can do to make a few extra cents.

how is that possible? how can they cripple a SD card? can't you just put it in a card reader and copy all your pictures and mp3s onto or from it?

Maybe they can limit the information that you can put on it. Do you think that they will limit what you can put on it like your phone numbers and stuff like that? Either way I am getting this phone. I hope by the time this comes out they will have made a 1gb miniSD, instead of the maximum 512 that I have seen.

You can transfer anything you want from card to computer and vice versa, but the phone will not read certain files. MP3's are fine. It's the pix, flix, and ringtones that won't read. Same thing with trying to get a pic from your phone to computer. You can move it to the card, but the something encoded in it prevents it from being read by the computer.

My manager has the 710 and he took a picture with his digital camera at home and put the picture on the mini sd. he is using it as a wallpaper as we speak.

That's true with the Motorola V710. There must have been a lot of heat over the V710 and it's ability to transfer photos and ringtones and MP3 fines. The "Get It Now" partners much have rebelled!
