How to leave External LCD Permanently On!! Read if you want to know how!

Note sure if it's been posted or not, but there is a way to leave the external screen on ALL THE TIME WITHOUT BACKLIGHTING. THis is cool since you can look to see the time without pressing a button. Doesn't use much battery I don't think since the backlight is still OFF. Well of course battery is consumed more much not sure how much. It's quite handy!

1. Press OK
2. Press 0 to go to service menu
3. Enter 000000 for service code
4. Choose 2. Field Test
5. Go down to POWER SAVE MODE
6. Choose OFF

THere , the LCD in front will always be on 🙂

Hope it helps those who likes it on! 🙂

Yes, since the front screen is a tft display which uses the most power of all the display types it will drain the battery quickly

From people that have done this same thing on the 8k I've heard that it didn't kill their battery life very bad at all.

That's cool! However, I don't think I am going to mess in that menu ANYMORE. I've already recorded a voice memo in the Media Player that I can't delete (can NOT be found anywhere else other than Media Player. It's not under "My Ringtones" or "My Sounds"). With my luck, I'd turn power save off and then my phone would die in 30 minutes... 😳

Can someone tell me if this works with the new 8300 as well? Because I cant find anything that will let the time stay on in the front or anything. it goes completely dark. Cant see missed calls or anything unless you hit buttons or open the phone. HIGHLY ANNOYING!

OMG a LLAMA

First time posting, although I've been reading these forums for a long while before the 8100 was released. Still waiting for bug fixes/phone hacks to be released so that i may feel at ease when I purchase it.

I was, however, playing with the 8100 at the verizon kiosk at my local mall. I like the feel and layout alot, and I also set the external screen to permanently on to see what it looked like. I must say it looked much better, plus it'll give the Kiosk workers something to do as they try to figure out why the screen is always on and draining power 😁

I've tried this before with my phones and the phone battery still last me well over a day. Most of power isn't consumsed by the screen but rather by the backlight itself. So since backlight is off it shouldn't comsumed that much battery to make phone unusable...

yes that is correct, once the phone is reseted or turned off, you have to go to the menu to turn power save off again.

I've used it everyday now, With the occasional talking , at night time my battery bar still at FULL. So for those who is afraid of battery drain, it won't use up that much...

Does this mean that every morning when I turn on my phone from power charging the night before I have to reset the settings to turn off the power save mode?

Do I need to turn off my phone when it's charging?
