LG VX-8100

I was attempting to place a call yesterday when my phone tried to turn off. This has happened before, and yes, I know it shouldn't do it but I've been living with it. However, instead of restarting like it usually did it went to the black screen with the Verizon logo on it. It stayed like that so I removed and replaced the battery. Now, whenever I try to turn my phone on, all I get is this black screen with the Verizon logo. I'm gonna take it into Verizon tomorrow but I was wondering if anyone on here had any insight before I throw myself to the wolves.
