A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS!

1) (This is the most important of the four) If I buy the $30 cable from Verizon, it will transfer MP3's. But will it let me take my PIX and FLIX off of the phone? Will it let me use BitPim?

2) If not, is there a cable that does all of the above?

3) Without a cable, is there an easy way to transfer pix off of the phone without paying 25 cents each?

4) Finally, and completely separately, does the battery charge more quickly when it is turned off? I always turn the phone off when charging to minimize charge time. Is this an issue? And if I charge it before it is out of juice will it minimize battery life?

Thanks in advance, this is a real help!

1.The essentials cable in the music pack verzon sells is for music transfer only

2. you can get a cable off ebay for ringtones, mp3, pix, flix(bitpim crap)

3.if you don't care about ringtones you just need a mini sd card and a card reader to get four pix and flix of your phone.

I guess in theory the battery would charge a little quicker if it was off since it wouldn't be using as much juice as if it was one, i use mine as an alarm clock so it is always one. The newer batteries don't have the battery memory issues as the old ones, so you should be able to charge it when ever you want. The manufacturer suggests you fully charge the battery when you first get the phone and some suggest you cycle it few times but as for myself i never ...

Thanks for your help. Does that mean that there is no cable that will do everything? Is there a non-Verizon one to transfer mp3's?

to transfer mp3 yes, but my understandign is that you must have the essentials kit and cable to transfer music on demand wave files downloaded from verzion. If you are just throwing wave file or mp3 on the phone then just get a card reader since they will need to be stored on the removable memory card. I think vcast music is the only thing they will let you store into the phone memory all other song files need to go in my music or mp3 folder located on mini sd card. If you are wanting ringtones then you need a cable and a program called bitpim.

I would like ringtones, but that's a sacrifice I'll make.

I want to buy a miniSD card from a mainstream place (RS, bestbuy etc.). I saw that i...

i have the card reader for my mp3's got the reader for like 15 bucks off of www.pricewatch.com

as for getting pics off the phone, i got the data cable off of ebay. use bitpim with the data cable. this works for getting pics off the phone, your text messages, add or remove wallpaper from the phone, and ringtones. search ebay for "data cable lg 8100" or something to that effect.

It's easy to get pics off the phone via the card and card reader if you change the settings to save the pics on the card. It stores them in under MY_PIX. If you save them on the phone you can copy them to the card and then transfer them off. Also, by using QPST, you can transfer anything to or from the phone or the card via the cable. Search the forum for exact instructions, I think there's a link to a HoFo thread.

Thanks a lot. The only thing I still question is putting WMA's on the card - I did some more reading and things conflict. Can anyone confirm that I can put WMA's on a card just with a card reader?

Thanks a lot for your help so far.

I was able to load 115 songs last night through a card reader. No conflicts at all.

This is wrong. I have the Music Essentials Kit with USB cable and I use the cable with BitPim to transfer ringtones, wallpaper, calendar, phonebook, etc., NO PROBLEM. The cable is NOT limited to music only.

I was meaning you need the essentials kit to transfer music on demand, not that the cable is only good for that. Meant to say software not cable

thanks for catching that Charles
