Vx-8100 or RAZR

Hi,
I'm getting ready to upgrade my phone and would like some input as to which is a better phone. I currently have the LG-600. It's between the VX-8100 or the RAZR. The most important things to are the reception and battery life. Any suggestions?

Personally after testing both of them i find the build quality and the reception to be a lot better with the LG VX8100 so that is the one I went with. I had an LG VX7000 before that one and at least with Verizon the build quality is hard to beat.

In my opionion both the RAZR and the E815 (both from Motorola) arent very sturdy feeling phones, especially the RAZR which is thin yes, but also very wide and tall.

Just my opinion..

battery sucks on the razor, something to cosider. Alos if you are at all interested in the new music on demand service or having the ability to expand and remove your memory, then the 8100 is better feature wise since the moto doesn't offer either of theose services. My major complaint about the razor was the outside display, it is horrible, can barely read it, let alone use it to view your missed calls and whatnot.

Yes both the inner and outer screens on the RAZR are a step back from the VX8100.

Sure the screen is larger on the RAZR, but with half the colors. Even though some argue that you cant notice them.. well on certain pictures you SURE can notice the difference.

well i bought the 8100 back when it came o ut in july maybe... i love this phone. i sell verizon (authorized dealer) and i played around with the RAZR. its a piece of ****. the speaker phone on the 8100 dominates the RAZR's. also battery life and reception is better. 8100 also has better features... in my opinion get the 8100...

Be sure to also ask this question at the RAZR forum also. That way you are getting both sides of the coin. Unfortunately most of the responses you will recieve in this forum will be weighted towards the 8100. INCLUDING mine. 8100 is an awesome phone.

I agree. I tried both and 8100 is definately better, IMO, but you will get bias opionions asking only on one forum.

Mary is correct, opinions will differ. While I think the 8100 is a fantastic phone, there is no doubpt in my mind that it has volume issues. It's common knowledge( maybe not here) that LG has confirmed a volume problem exists(confirmed in Howards).

One person in this forum said it best...if you want a gadget with bells and whistles, the 8100 will do just fine. If you want a phone first that has excellent call quality and very good bluetooth, go with the razor. My suggestion is to try each phone out for a week and see which one fits your needs.

Hmmm. I still havent had any volume issues with my phone. It is pretty close to the VX7000 that i just upgraded.

Maybe there was a bad batch of phones.

No, there is no bad batch of phones. The volume problem is there. It's been acknowledged by LG and by tons of people in Phonescoop and Howard forums. I had a buddy tell me it happened when he first got it, then a month went by and it happened again. For me, it happened when I was talking to a Verizon Rep..all of a sudden her voice went bye bye. My theory is that a novice couldn't tell the difference. A phone is just a phone to them, plus they have no experience to compare it with. I have a simple request to all 8100 users in this forum. When using your bluetooth, ask the end user if they hear a echo(be honest). I have tried at least 6 8100's and they all echo when using every type of bluetooth headset under the sun.

First I want to mention that when calling Verizon reps the call quality is usually crap and not just on a cell phone, but from a landline too! I've had to call 2-3 times before until I got a good connection. Seems odd that a phone company would have such a problem with this. Anyway....as far as echo with BT headsets. If you adjust the volume on both the phone and the headset you will greatly reduce or eliminate any echo. I am currently using a Plantronics 640 and have asked EVERY person I have spoke with about an echo and noone has heard one yet.

What about static? I tried the 510. Seemed to be clear but button was hard to press. What are all the adapters for? I saw no mention of LG.

No static. There are various adapters for various things. One is the charging base/holder that you charge it in w/ the home charger, you can keep it in the case in your pocket and it will vibrate to let you know you have a call if you choose not to wear it all the time, you can also charge the headset in the base with a AAA battery (included) in case you don't have your charger or don't want to take it with you. All the little adapters are to allow you to charge the headset with your cell phones charger to avoid having to travel with both. No, the LG is not included, but that is no biggie to me.
