ok, i saw the list of 15 thousand links on how to do the custom ring tone thing, no help.
my question is, i could always do them before by just emailing them to my phone and going into the "my sounds folder" or whatever its called, and setting that sound as a ringtone.
havent been able to find out how to do that with the 8100... is there any way to set a sound in the "my sounds" folder as a ringtone?

No you cannot. You can put custom ring tones on it, however using Bitpim and either a data cable or a BT USB adapter.
