Planning to Switch

I currently have a Motorola E815 and am thinking about switching to the LG vx8100. I know almost everyone in this forum is probably a fan of the 8100, but I am looking for some truly unbiased opinions.

Basically, I love my E815...WHEN it works. I am on my 6th one (the first two or three were due to manufacturing defects right after the phone initially started shipping...the last three had other issues). Anyway, with my E815s...they start out working perfect, then seam to deteriorate. Problems start happening more and more. I was wondering if anyone experienced similar issues with the 8100?

Also...what are some other problems people may be having with the 8100, and have you found any solutions?

Like I said...I am looking ...

I'll tell you the truth.I own the 8100 and yes I like it. It is sturdy and I have only one problem( battery won't keep charge, got new one)
The 815 does everything the 8100 does it may not have as nice of outside screen but does the job. If I were you and if the switch is going to cost you alot just keep you 815, but if it's not or the 815 is just falling apart then sure why not. Also it depends on how old you are, it seems the younger crowd likes the 8100 for its lights and speakers. but if you an older buisness man the 815 is more professional looking. hope this helps. But remember the phone basically do the same exact things, use your judgement.

I'll add my two cents. I'm a big fan of the 8100. Now I've never owned the e815 so I may not be able to give you a fair comparison. I do like many of the features of the 8100.

As Cam mentioned, a BIG feature that swayed me to the 8100 was the sturdiness, or feel, of the phone. I just did not like the cheap plastic feel of the e815. I could just see it chipping or cracking with the slights drop or bump. I do like the sleekness of the 815 better, but I went with the slightly thicker 8100.

I have not had the battery issue others have addressed. I pretty much get what the phone specs state. However, I do plan on going to and extended battery in the future.

The only other major difference in the two, may be the PC and Outlook syn...

Oh it just hit me, you might miss not being able to (well not without extra effort) being able to use your speakerphone with the flip closed.

I switch from the 815 to the 8100, and I'm glad I did. They do the same thing, I just wanted something that looked better than the 815. The 8100 looks and feels better than the 815. I do sometimes have a hard time hearing on my 8100. But that is suppose to get fixed with the new update. But I'm glad I did switch.

I absolutely love the 8100. the only problem I have with the phone is the camera sucks. I tried other people's suggestions (like put it on a lower resolution) But it still has a huge delay. Which sucks. But I hear that it will be fixed with the version 5 update. But who knows when the update will be released.
I also played with a 9800 the other day and let me say that's a beautiful phone. And there is no camera delay. I may switch to that phone in a few months. I love the screen for watching videos and text messaging is a breeze with the keyboard. As I said I do love my 8100, but the 9800 is sweet. (expect it's missing the cool disco lights =)
(Sigh) I wish I could use both!

I had 2 8100's and I returned both of them because of earpiece volume fluctuations... I could not hear!! And what good is a phone that doesn't allow you to hear your called party??

I switched to the 8000... so far it has been perfect in every way. I have had no issues with it at all. It's wonderful, and it's beautifully made... very high quality indeed!

It does not have BT or mini card slot, but has most of the other bells & whistles of the 8100 and the e815.

Some VZW stores still have them until supplies are gone, but they have been discontinued in favor of the 8100 (a big mistake in my view)!

The size of the 8000 is a tiny bit bigger than in e815, but it's thinner. Here is a comparison of the three phones... 8000, e815, 810...

You can always get the Bluetooth adapter to make the 8000 work with your bluetooth headset, but that's a pain to have that extra accessory hooked to your phone.

As Mary said, you could get a BT adapter. Since your phone would be set down someplace (in the car, on a table, or whatever), the extra small piece of hardware should not be a problem. Then you've effectively added BT to an otherwise complete and perfect phone, the 8000!
