I have the 8000, if i insure my phone and lose it will they send me the 8100 since the 8000 is discontinued?
...
Nope. They have hundreds, no - thousands of 8000's in the warehouse just stockpiled waiting for people to "lose" their phones.
They have plenty of re-furbished 8000's to take the place of the one are planning on losing.
...
I don't know if things have changed or not with insurance, but it used to be that if you filed a claim due to lost OR stolen phones, you HAD to have a police report to go with it or they wouldn't replace it. They do that, I assume, so people won't make false claims of loss, get a new phone for $50 then turn around and sell there old one for hundreds.
...
correct-o-mundo! these insurance people aren't stupid... they have to make money too ya know =p
...
thats not the case, cuz i had to get a replacement for the 8000 two weeks ago and they sent me a brand new 8100. I was shocked, i expected the 8000. Anyways its probally a hit-miss situation to get the 8100.
...
Maybe they have more refurbished 8100's stockpiled than 8000's 🙂 Even on this forum there were dozens of people who returned it.
...
mine wont refurbished at all. no talk time on it, no data transferred on it at all. Brand new inside the box.
...
Who replaced the phone for you Verizon or the Insurance Company?
Insurance companies only send out refurbished phones. They don't send out new phones. Read the contract. 😕
...
I've gotten new ones from Landline (the insurance I currently and have always had with Verizon on various phones) every time I've made a claim.
...
How can you tell they're new? What box do they come in?
...
Then Verizon is replacing it, not the insurance co.
...
You have to call Lockline direct and when it comes it is in a shipping box postmarked from Lockline with a return slip to return your damaged phone directly to Locline, not Verizon. Just because it's in a Verizon box doesn't mean it's coming from Verizon directly. Lockline obviously gets there phones from Verizon to be able to replace Verizon phones.

Then I guess the insurance replacements are different in different parts of the company. In New York, the carrier is Asurion. They only send out refurbished phones, which they stock themselves. I have had a number of phones replaced through them. They come in a plain box, with instructions from Asurion. In fact, there's no literature at all from Verizon in the box, only instructions to call Verizon and/or *228 from the phone.
Apparently Lockline gets the phones straight from Verizon, so it's a completely different story. ðŸ¤

If the Lockline doesn't have any refurbs in stock, they will send you a new one sometimes...especially if it's a brand new phone that has only be on the market a little while.
Asurion sends only refurbs, you don't have a choice with them...
...
I called the insurance company and they sent me the phone. It was like i went to verizon and they gave me an upgrade.

Well, sadly to say, I know have current firsthand knowlege about the insurance (Lockline, at least).
My dishwasher was full today and I didn't have time to unload it, so I was doing some dishes in the sink quick while talking on my phone-not using bluetooth as I usually do-and the phone slipped right off my shoulder and into the water! I called Lockline to make a claim and they informed me that if they have new phones they try to send new firt and only refurbished if new is not available. She checked the stock and yes, they had a brand new 8100, so that is what I am getting (with a $50 deductible, of course). She also mentioned that since it was water damage, I didn't have to send the old one back, so I guess after I dry it out, my kid...

Got my replacement phone already today!!!!! Yeah! Overnight shipping for free, I guess. Anyway, it was BRAND NEW and to my grateful surprise, it already had V04 on it, so I don't need to go and get an update again!!!! Anyway....the phone I dropped in the water, well, it had dried out and seems to work just fine, so I don't know what I'm supposed to do with it now?????????????????????????????????? Anyway, just an update on the insurance.
Also, on a side note, I've been using it all day and was trying a few things out. On my other phone I NEVER had a volume issue or the camera delay that everyone talked about and was afraid I had just gotten lucky and may have it on the new one, but don't seem to have either issues on the new one ei...

Mary, I don't suppose you're interested in selling the old 8100 you have?? My other phone died and I'm looking for replacement. Insurance is going to send me a 4500 but I'm trying to find a deal on the 8100.

I don't see why not. E-mail me and we'll figure something out. marybethlewis@yahoo.com.
