can't add mp3's to miniSD after formated

I got my firmware update. I added songs onto miniSD. Phone wouldn't play, it said "No songs found in memory card". I took the card out, plugged it back into computer and I noticed 4 new folders (MY_FLIX, MY_SOUND, MY_PIX and MY_MP3) along with the songs I had earlier loaded. Now I wasn't able to delete or add anything to the card. I formatted the card on the phone, which deleted the songs, but left the the folders.

How do I get songs onto the card? Is my goal to get the songs into the "MY_MP3 folder? I was using mp3s, I even converted songs that were already labeled mp3, just to make sure. I can't edit this card now at all.

Help, thanks!

Yes, you need to put them in the "my_mp3" folder. I had a bunch of songs on my desktop in a folder and tried to drag the entire folder into the "my_mp3" folder and they showed up individually on the pc screen, but failed to show up on the phone. I then opened the folder on my desktop, drug each song individually into the "my_mp3" then it worked just fine. You now keep them as .mp3, you don't want to change them to .qcp or .mid.

I don't know if it's because I'm using a Mac or what becuause when I try to drag a single mp3 into the "MY_MP3" folder is just says "MY_MP3 cannot be modified". I'm unable to drag anything on or out of these folders now.

Anybody?

What kind of card and card reader are you using? I had a similar problem (I have a San Disk mini SD with the San Disk Mobile Mate card reader).

I noticed a couple things. First, you have to make sure that you "safely remove the device" (@ least with a PC, I don't know about MAC) before actually removing the card reader from the USB port. Why this makes a difference, I don't know. All I know is that we copied a song to the MP3 folder, unplugged the card reader, put the mini SD in my phone, and it said I had no songs. Then, we tried it again, this time clicking the option to "Safely Remove Hardware" (or whatever) and the song was there.

Secondly, I went round and round for a long time figuring this one out: I was trying to put more...

I can't believe it was the sliding "lock" on the adapter. It must have slid into the lock position after sliding it into my printer at some time or other because I was adding stuff to the card eariler. I feel like an idiot for not double checking though. Thanks for keeping my heads up.

Piggys, on a side note: I have the MobileMate SD+, you don't need to use the SD adapter, if you flip over the reader, the MiniSD goes into the right side of the slot.
Good point about safely removing the card reader, I've had similar problems in the past and that solved them.

I think the reason I can't transfer files is because when the phone formats the card, the card's format become "MS-DOS File System", at least that's what it says under the "Get Info" of the card. So I think us Mac users are out of luck for transfering anything to or from these cards.

Verizon needs to get thier act together.

Not so. I formatted card with phone unconnected. Was then easily able to transfer MP3 files (note: NOT AAC files) from either my iMac G3 or Powerbook G4.

Good! 😁

Yeah, like I said, I went round and round with that lock, too. It took me the LONGEST time to figure it out!! I had to go on San Disk's website (the manufacturer of my card) and do a search on the write-protection. That's how I finally figured out that the adapter had a lock on it!

I'm glad you got it working.
