does anyone know how much longer the standby and talk times r on the extended batt. and does anyone know if there is one that wont make the battery protrude making the phone bigger

Look on the LG website for specs. And no, no phone has an extended battery that isn't physically larger than the standard battery. More battery capacity = larger physical size.

I would get one day standby with the standard battery... Two with the extended... Doesn't matter if I use the phone 10 minutes or 2 hours a day...

Yes it is. I have exchanged my phone once. I am getting much better batter life with the second phone. I just have the standard battery, and am getting two days on a charge. I average 65 minutes per day talk time.

Certain features(EV-DO,MP3, etc.) may use more power and cause actual standby and usage time to vary.
The extended battery is slightly larger and if bought through VZW & LG it comes with the battery cover.

Batt life is also signal dependent. Weak signal area = shorter batt life.
The phone has to "speak up" to be heard in a poor service area, and that consumes power. (sorta like talking from across the room)
Also, network congestion can cause this. More calls at the same time, the phone may also have to "speak up" (sorta like talking in a crowded room)
