I just called the Fowler store since you said they had the update and its near me. The person I talked to said that it was not out yet and they did not have any updates for the 8100. Did you actually go to this store and get the update? If so who did you speak with? I really want this update....

Rochester New York...Greece store and the Greece Ridge Mall both have it. Works great. Now I have a reason to get a 1 gig card now. I fit 40 songs on this 256mb card. Thats with 10 vids on the card and 50 pix. This phones stock just went thru the roof!!

Also the update took 12 minutes for me. I tranferred evrything from phone to my card before I went to the store. The tech there said that makes it go WAY faster. I was the first there but he said the mall store flashed a guy that had to wait 3HRS!!!! The guy had almost all his memory full.

I like how you can change the sound of the music form 3D Surround, Concert Hall, Rock, Jazz, Pop, Classical and Flat. Helps with the volume depending on the song.

Sweet...just called the Manhasset store and after speaking to 2 people (transferred to a tech), they confirmed they had it. Did you get it done there?
This is good news for the NY area. Now I wait until some decent faceplates come out, and then I get this phone. No way I'm carrying a blue phone. My VX6000 is still going strong...love that thing.
