Ringtone using QPST

So I uploaded a song to use as a ringtone, following the instructions and it worked great. I then edited the song further on my comp and wanted to upload the new one. So using the program, I deleted the original, uploaded the new one (using a different file name) and reset. When I turned it on, only the original file was there, and when I went to play it, nothing happens. I loaded the phone on the computer again, and saw that the file was not listed in my "mr" folder. What is going on, can anyone help me?

I'm no expert at QPST but i was wondering if you deleted those two files, ringtone.dat and ringtonesize.dat, when reinstalling the edited ringtone, you have to do that everytime. also try erasing it from the phone without using qpst. then plug in phone and see what you find. if its gone from phone and qpst dosn't see it then start from step one again. just a thought. hope it helps.

where do you go to delete the .dat files? I have tried deleting it from the phone and it says its deleted, but it is still in the folder. I have also tried to upload the same original file under a different name, but it never appears, only the phantom ringtone from the first upload.

in the dload folder, there is a list of files, you would have had to erase those two files in order to put ringtone on in the first place, at least according to instructions that i've read on here. From what i understand, you have to delete those two files everytime you put new ringtone on unless you leave phone connected and add several at once, the phone then rebuilds those files based on what ringtones you have on the phone, so try erasing those two files then reset phone, then plug her in and check again. if it's all clear, start from step one, make sure file is renamed correctly, using .mid and try adding again, other than that, i'm not sure what else to tell ya, hopefully someone else can help that knows more than I. good luck
