Sending mp3 ringtone over email

Can I rename mp3 file to have *.mid extension and send it to (Myphone#)@vzwpix.com and then be able to play it as a ringtone?

From what others have said, I don't think that works for this phone. But I haven't tried, so it's worth a shot.
