Anyone having any problems should call LG directly at 1-800-793-8896 and chose option number 4. I just talked to a rep there and he claims that no problems whatsoever have been reported and if people would just call in then they would start developing the next software upgrade.

You can also email them at customerservice@lge.com

This is what I emailed them, feel free to copy and paste it and email it to them

I recently bought an LG vx-8100 and have noticed many bugs/problems
Hopefully they can be fixed in a software update:
here's the list:

1) When I use speakerphone others complain that the call quality is not good, they say that it gets crackly and they hear a lot of background noise as well as echo. It's not bearable for the...

wow, you found a lot of issues with your phone... or you compounded all the issues from the forum? and are you going to keep it now?
I didn't get the phone yet, but one thing that I am already unhappy is that you can't turn off christmas tree lights!

I would think this is an excellent recommendation by navyseal2413!
I would add...Verizon should also be notified of the same problems.

What good is a phone when the volume levels vary up and down while having a conversation?
What good is a camera that has delay problems which cause undesired results?
And all the other numerous reported problems with this LG VX-8100!
I don't think LG and Verizon are watching the rants and raves on this forum! The only way they will know of these difficulties is if the customers of their products notify them.

Great recommendation navyseal2413!

I sent LG an email about my problems (below are the email I sent and the reply I got). THIS IS JUST GREAT:

Hello:

I recently bought an LG VX-8100 and have noticed bugs/problems. Hopefully these problems can be fixed in a software update:

1) Volume in earpiece fluctuates quite often. I have the Master Volume set on “high” and “auto volume” is off. Sometimes the volume gets so low that I can’t hear the person I am talking to.

2) When viewing any messages and sending picture messages, the phone sometimes freezes and then turns off and then back on.

3) I have had messages appear in both my Inbox and Sent box that look like this:

???????????????????

And then when I go to view the m...

My response back to them:

Tyria,

Thank you for responding so promptly! Thanks for the info on the file formats (“pmd” vs “mid”).

This is actually my second 8100 I have gotten. I had the same thing happen with the first one and exchanged it @ my Verizon store. I have also read about other people having the same problems with their 8100s as well. I’m not sure what may be happening, but hopefully more people can bring their problems to LG’s attention so that the issues can be addressed.

Thank you for your time!

Her response back to me:

You are welcome. We thank you for bringing these issues to our attention. Please know that we will contact our engineers and programmers and have them research to see if they can di...

Response I received....

Thank you for inquiring of LG Electronics.

There are not any known issues of which LG is aware with the VX8100.
However, we appreciate your feedback. Your inquiry will be passed along
to our engineers and programmers for further research. in the meantime,
the only current option available is to have the equipment exchanged
again through your service provider if possible and at your own
discretion.

If you have additional questions or concerns, Please contact us again.
Or if you like, you can contact our wireless division at 800-793-8896
to be assisted by one of our helpful agents. Thank you again for
inquiring of LG.

Why are you blaming LG? As I posted previously, LG produced the 8100, Motrorola produced the v710 &e815. They then gave these phones to VZW who put in the software to meet their needs. The software controls the ENTIRE phone. Volume, camera Bluetooth, etc. It is not LG but VZW. When are you people going to wake up? You can be sure if they left the software intact, none of these problems would arise. Remember LG sold the phone to VZW, who then altered the software. Blame VZW.

THANK YOU! - I've been trying to say that--LG designed these phones so everything works. VZW puts in thier own software and what works is now disabled and the phone has trouble with it.

Verizon had the phones last, and messed with the software before selling them, so contact Verizon too.

Thanks, leanbarton, for saying that in a nicer way than the others. Some people, like me, aren't aware that VZW alters the software once they get the phone. I was thought Verizon informed LG of what they want the software to include (I'm talking about having some of the features crippled) and then LG loaded the software accordingly. So please, call me dumb for not realizing this! Again, leanbarton, you were able to let us know to contact Verizon about the problems (as well) in a NICE way instead of scolding!! 😁

It is all verizon's fault. I do like the phone, but when I looked back at what LG said initially about the phone MP3 Player, 20 ringers, 512mb memory, it makes me 😡 . The phone could have been really great, but no, they want $5.99 from me so I can get a ringer on MOD TONES. Lame.
