I was waiting for 3 month to buy lg vx8100 thinking its gonna be all that and now when I got it for a week... well we all know the rest 🙄 ... no mp3, crippled bluetooth and u have to hack it to death to get most of the features to work, camera is grainy, no speaker phone when closed games only work in evdo coverage, etc.. Besides I dunno I think I got tired of the large size and blue faceplate (mebee go for a silver I dunno)

I had some lockup problems so I gona call to exchange for new model or perhaps go for a different phone I dunno 😕 ...Give me reason y I should keep it

Can you get something better for that price? I think you may be disappointed in the E815. If you really want high end features and don't want a pda phone, you should stick with this one. Otherwise, for around the same price or less you can get the Samsung A890, LGVX8000 or 7000 or the Kyocera KX2(Koi). Or you can hold out a few more months, they should be rolling out some more phones soon. Just don't count on release dates . . . 🙂

I decided to wait and see what happens with the 8100. I decided on the 8000 based on the good reviews of its speaker phone and camera. The 815 is more than half an oz heavier...

I too had the let down when the phone was finally in my hands. I was like "it's nice, but it ain't al that special".

After less than a week, I love the phone. When you anticipate something for too long, it never meets your expectations. Imagine if you rolled in to a VZW store and you learned of the 81oo for the first time. You would be blown away! It's better than anything out there for the price.

If you take it back, you're back in the same situation you wer 3 months ago, waiting . . for "the ultimate phone" only to be dissapointed again. Because it just doesn't exist . .

I aint waiting for the "perfect phone". Just one thats fully operational. And right now, the 8100 is just a phone. It cant play my mp3's, I aint gonna use bluetooth, the camera isnt as good as the 8000 and I dont have EVDO in my area. So, based on that, what benefits does it have over the others?

Now in 3 months if they activate the player so I can load my own music and not just buy theirs... then we may be able to do some business. 🙂

Is it as good as the 8000? The 8000 is an 8x zoom (says 10x in some places) with a macro lens and has 128mb on board memory.

The weight of the 815 is putting me off - 4.6oz! How heavy is it with the extended life battery. And to get the same memory i need to buy a transflash card...

Maybe I should be posting this on the 815/8000 forums...? 🙂

I would strongly suggest that you at least consider getting the e815. I'm very satisfied after having it for two weeks now.

Its camera seems decent enough for a phone, and its weight doesn't feel heavy at all.

As for Bluetooth, while non-headset profiles do come crippled like on the 8100, the Dial Up Networking and OBEX (file exchange) profiles CAN be enabled. For DUN, it's as easy as punching in ##DIALUP (##342587) to enable and disable it. For OBEX, a little searching on howardforums.com will reveal how to enable it with a software 'seem' edit. Using the same process, it's also possible to more thoroughly customize the inner and outer screens, like removing the words Verizon Wireless. To my knowledge, I don't think anyone has figured...

I did seriously consider the 815. But I just couldnt find enough indepedent reviews (ie cnet, etc) about it. There's a whole lot more about the 8000. Cos its been out longer I guess. And I'm really into the idea of the macro lens. And some people rave about the camera.

But for now I'm going with the 8000. I have 15 days to evaluate it. And maybe I'll update again at the end of the year. Its a business expense so it aint gonna cost me a penny whatever phone i end up with... 😉

...And that's fine. People naturally have different criteria as to what fills their particular needs and wants. I sincerely hope the 8000 works out for you.

Look at the size specs of the 8000, 8100 and 815. There aint much between them. Bout the same width. The 8000 is the tallest. But is also the thinnest. And the 815 is the heaviest.
I thing the 8000 seems larger cos its 'squarer'. Doesnt have those aesthetic rounded edges like the other 2.

If you get the VX8000, be warned that he Verizon website doesn't list this as "National Access" (if you care).

I feel the same way!! I gave up my 7000 and besides the speaker phone I liked my 7000 better. Now with the new ever 2 you can get the e815 for free so I think im swapping it out for that!! But im still an LG fan

Just remember guys/gals, VZW is going to cripple ALL Bluetooth phones. You're going to have the same problems with any phone you buy. My phone works great. Had the e815 for about an hour, and returned it. Never had a problem with the volume, speakerphone or voice command. Occasionally have to use multiple selections, but only with a headset. Remember, as long as you stay with VZW, you'll be paying for every little thing, unless you hack it and probably mess up the software some more. 😲 😲 😲

I had the e815 first and decided on the 8100, so no hate mail as I am an owner of an 8100 now, NOT an 815, BUT, just curious......if Verizon crippled mp3 on the 8100 so we would have pay for songs, then why didn't they do it to the 815????? There both Verizon phones???!!!

They DID cripple the Bluetooth on the e815, v710 and the 8100? If you read some of the messages on here, I think there are ways around it.

I was looking for opinions as to whether or not something else was really all that much better. Its obvious that I'll do what I want in the end. I'm just trying to make an informed decision. I think your attitude about people asking questions like this stinks.
