An RF question

I read quite often that the Motorola V710 reception, and now the E815, is better than that of LG phones. I don't understand how that can be, considering that all cellphones are limited to the same watage. Can anyone explain technically how one cellphone can have better reception than another?

Phones in the US are limited to an SAR of 1.6 (specific absorption rate in Watts per Kilogram). However, SAR and reception do not always come together. I've had a Motorola V60c with Verizon with amazing reception and an SAR of only 0.28 in digital mode (I don't use analogue).
Reception has to do with several factors including the phone's algorithm for searching for the best tower, the carrier's technology (CDMA or GSM), the antenna design, and the power output. I can post more info if anyone's interested.

So technically... the Moto has better reception than the 8100? I'm using a Samsung a890 in the meantime... It's really clear and I now get service ( good reception) in rooms I didn't with my LGvx6000. Should I be worried about the 8100's reception and clarity at all???????? Thanks! 😉
