How's the speakerphone - is it loud enough to use in a car? And how is the reception? I have a VX4400 now and would like the 8100 to be a little better if possible.
The speakerphone is pretty much the same as the 8000. Reception is hard to say so far. I am on an EVDO tower here (we just got it here) and I am not getting full bars. On 1X, I was getting more bars. That does not mean munch though.

Does it really have 512mb memory?? How is it allocated ?
How do I check that? I may need to play with it more to find that out.
Thanks for taking time to answers questions! 😲)

Don't know. I don't have a bluetooth headset yet. Sorry.

Ok, I guess my question is a bit pre-mature, but I want to be able to fill up the SD card with mp3's and listen to them with a BT headset. Im guessing a data cable will be nesscisary for putting 500 MB of mp3's on the card, but thats what im shooting for. Not to mention putting a movie on a 1Gig sd card. But BlueTooth Mp3 playing is important to me.
Don't know the answer to that one.

Motorola is releasing, if not has released, the ht820 bluetooth stereo headphones for that specific purpose. They wrap around the back of the head and have both mp3 and phone controls. Go to www.hellomoto.com and look under either bluetooth products or coming soon stuff.
I think Im asking is the 8100 BT v1.2?
BT v1.1 can't play mp3 as Ive read...?

Too sour 😛
First, how is the voice command functionality? Specifically, let's say that you have multiple numbers programmed for John Smith, i.e. John Smith "Home", John Smith "Mobile" etc... In the past, LG phones (VX 6100, VX 8000 etc) would only bring up the "primary" number with voice command, meaning that you would have to manually dial the other numbers. On the new Motorola E815, the voice command brings up ALL the numbers, and lets you sequentially say "yes" or "no", until you get to the number you are wanting to call. Very handy when using the Bluetooth headset.
This brings me to my second question. I've been told by a number of Verizon reps that the Bluetooth functionality on the VX 8100 i...

Just to let you know, if you update the software on any of the LGs, you actually have the option to select other numbers stored...

This is actually a moot point now because I just returned from a local Verizon store and played with the new VX8100 for about 45 minutes. I had to pull some teeth just to get them to bring it out from the back, but I'm glad I did. The voice dialing feature is exactly the same as the VX8000; you have to program the voice dial numbers yourself, with your own voice. This kills any comparison to the Motorola E815 for me, because I have close to 300 business and personal contacts, and there's no way I would want to spend the time training the phone ...

First, click the link to the actual LG VX 8100 Instruction Manual that was posted here yesterday. Then, read the voice dialing instructions. It clearly states that you have to manually program names into voice dialing. It's the same software that the VX 8000 uses.
Secondly, unless the VX 8100 I tested yesterday at a Verizon store here in the Northwest was a beta unit, (which it wasn't -- they pulled it out of a factory fresh box), it does NOT have speaker independent voice dialing.
Perhaps before insulting/accusing someone you should do your homework, and not just rely on a "spec sheet", for your information, as they are typically revised numerous times before a product is released. I have no ulterior...

I took a video but can't host it. If someone can host it that has a video phone, I will send them the video to their cellphone. Email me a cell number to cecasejr@gmail.com.

Congratulations! In some pix of VX8100 it looks a bit "thick." How comfortable is it in your hand compared to say VX6000? Is the color blue or teal? Thanks! Enjoy!
Very comfortable. It looks blue to me.

Yes, you can read a text message without opening the flip. The ringer are very load. Louder than any other phone I have had, and I have had most of Verizon's phones.

How strong is the vibrate? The Moto v710 is pretty weak.
Hard for me to judge so far. I usually keep my phones in the holster on my hip and my holster has not arrived yet. I can feel it OK in my pocket, however.
You can also look at one of the other posts in this forum that has a link to the VX 8100 manual; the voice dial section states that you have to manually program the voice dials with your own voice. The lack of speaker independent software totally killed any enthusiasm I had for this phone. I can't believe that LG wouldn't put this in their new "flagship" model, but instead have it available for their lower models, i.e. the VX 4500 or VX 6100. Very strange. Definitely glad I w...

Based on some of the problems you've reported, perhaps you got a bad phone and should exchange it. I haven't had any of the issues you've reported pop up on the E815, and have been extremely happy with it.
Voice Activated Dialing (VAD) : Allows you to place a call using your voice.
Saving a Voice Name
NOTE: When entering names in your Contacts list,
avoid symbols other than letters (such as
digits and punctuation marks). The name is automatically saved when storing the number. You can not verbally assign a name to the contact. The phone will complete this for you.
Calling a Voice Name
Press the Voice Memo Key. Please say a command. is read over the speaker or earpice of the phone. Say the word Call Someone Say the name of the contact. Confirm the name of the contact by saying Yes or No. At this point the phone will dial the call out for you.
Which implies that it would be sp...
